Is pre-season the final chance for Tim Ream to help you prove his worth to be able to Wanderers?

By using Matt Mills looking likely to leave and defensive cover already created for the fullback aspects, is pre-season the go on chance for Tim Ream to essentially prove his worth to Dougie Freedman along with the Wanderers faithful?

It may be fair to say that Tim Ream's cause problems for Bolton Wanderers has been minimal at best. Bought with the New York Red Bulls as a result of Owen Coyle in Thinking about receiving 2012, while Bolton ended up still a Premier Category side, Ream came by having a decent reputation behind him from his time in the MLS.

Ream was described for a ball playing centre back with a certain amount of pace about him and it seemed that he is a perfect replacement for that departing Gary Cahill. He or she made his league debut concerning 28th February against Chelsea, and formed a enterprise with David Wheater which will be your first choice pairing for the rest of the season. Ream played the whole 90 minutes in most of the games. This partnership, without perfect, did have the country's good moments and demonstrated to promise.

Despite a several solid games, it may be seen that there ended up significant weaknesses in Ream's experience. Whilst he is composed on your golf ball and quite quick in a centre back, he lacks physical presence, and vs stronger opposition he will struggle. Unfortunately the rigours for the Premier League were an excessive amount for Ream and the rest of the Bolton side. We were relegated on the final day.

Coming into a new season in a new league, the Championship was the best place for Ream get started on again and stake a claim to become first choice centre spine. An injury to David Wheater with the penultimate game of the previous season meant that they were unable to build on their partnership. Bolton had as well signed Matt Mills coming from Leicester, casting further doubt over Ream's invest the side. Despite this he started the primary game, a loss against Burnley, alongside Zat Knight. Poor form and this arrival of Mills meant that Tim's chances were limited and in total he only managed 13 appearances over the course of the season, filling in due to injury usually.

The majority of fans May possibly spoken to feel of which Tim Ream is not good enough and it would be far better move him on. My group is willing to give your ex one last chance. He is under contract until 2015 so we should try to get quite possibly the most out of him. With Matt Mills looking increasingly very likely to leave for Leeds, we are left with Knight, Wheater together with Ream as recognised heart backs. I am aware that will Ricketts and Baptiste (once confirmed) have the capability there, but they ought to be used as fullbacks primarily.

I know many fans continue to be holding out hope we can get Craig Dawson rear, and he is still on top of Dougie's priority list, but until then we can only go with what we have. If Tim can improve his strength with the summer break and re-kindle this partnership with Wheater or form a fresh one with Knight, we may yet see the best of him. This is his last possibility to impress and with many fans already writing your ex off, he's going to have to do it quickly.

They're bound to become right eventually.

Meanwhile, The Sun is reporting that will Chelsea have accepted that they're ready to take a £30 millon decrease on striker Fernando Torres if he's sold come early july. If true, even £25 million for Torres is a ton of money.

In the final "I'll believe it as i see it" story, The Sunday People are once again with another unbelievable account where they say of which Chelsea have told Manchester United to call their asking price with regard to Rooney. Even money bags Chelsea won't spend an obscene amount of cash on Rooney, I'm confident.

Stoke City pig's head incident: Jones apologises to Whelan - BBC Sport (blog)

Stoke striker Kenwyne Jones has apologised to team-mate Glenn Whelan after smashing his car windscreen in a mistaken act of retribution.

Jones, 28, found a pig's head wrapped in his clothes at the club's training ground on Friday.

"As far as tension in the squad there's none - myself and Whelan had our thrash-out and he said it wasn't him so I apologised and I'm paying for it"

Stoke have launched an investigation into the incident but are yet to make a statement as to whether any player will be punished.

On his Twitter page,  Jones suggested he and Whelan had now moved on from the matter, denying also that the incident was racially motivated.

"First off for all the people saying this had anything to with racism I'm not endorsing that," he said. "Secondly I've apologised to Glenn Whelan for the destruction of his property.

"For all the people that think that the pig's head wrapped in my clothes was banter, great, so is the broken window.

"As far as tension in the squad there's none - myself and Whelan had our thrash-out and he said it wasn't him so I apologised and I'm paying for it.

"As for the person who did it no one has come forward and apologised to me so I guess the joke was good then. But as I said, if you have the belly to take banter to that level be willing to accept the reaction. That's final - no more comments."

The incident came just days after retiring striker Michael Owen had his car covered in eggs and flour by team-mates.

On that occasion, Jones tweeted a picture of Owen's car to his followers with the explanation that it was a "leaving present" for the former England star but he denied that he was involved in the incident.

In a statement on Friday, Stoke said they took reports of an incident at their training ground seriously and said a full internal investigation would be carried out and those responsible for any unacceptable behaviour would be dealt with in accordance with the club's disciplinary procedures.

Will Phil Smith develop into a Manchester United great? - The Guardian (weblog)

Who was Sir Alex Ferguson discussing when he made that statement? Ryan Giggs in 1994? John Scholes or David Beckham in 1995? Cristiano Ronaldo or Wayne Rooney in 2006? No. Evening he was talking about Phil Jones on Monday. Ferguson had watched his participants respond to Manchester City's challenge by winning the title at Old Trafford with four games to spare. He'd experienced a glorious hat-trick from a player who was simply deemed injury-prone and overpriced last summer when he joined the club for A24m. He may have liked a few swigs of champagne. Thursday night was nearly as good a as any for the Ferguson to replace his cold eye for a player with dewy sentimentalism, however the proven fact that Jones can get to be the club's most useful ever seems a proposal borne from a concoction of success and wine. The young centre-back has made this year to 13 league appearances. He is done as well and has not guaranteed in full a starting position as Rafael da Silva, who has performed 37 times and obtained one of the goals of the season. On when Ryan Giggs acquired as many league brands as Arsenal have maintained in their heritage and Robin van Persie scored a goal of the growing season challenger the night time, Ferguson threw a curveball by remembering Jones. But this would not come as a huge shock. Here is the way Ferguson works. He sees the bigger picture and plans for future years. That's why he's acquired more league titles than Leeds United, Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea have handled in 445 times of league football. While the rest people were marvelling at Giggs's ability to defeat men half his age, Ferguson was recasting his group for the seasons ahead. Ferguson recognises that his history contains not only the 13 group games he has gained in England, but in addition the foundations he will leave his heir. The older Ferguson becomes, the more he revels in the potential of his younger people. for specific praise: "Rafael is amazing while assessing his latest Premier League-winners, the boss selected Da Silva and David de Gea. That impetuosity has left him having fun with greater readiness now, as the time has advanced. David de Gea is rolling out wonderfully well. I believe we have a nucleus of players who're small enough a we assume them to improve." Perhaps Ferguson understands the problem Manchester United supporters experience when determining the two great administrators in the club's history. Both Ferguson and Sir Matt Busby won trophies with amazing groups that played a particular brand of basketball. They rebuilt clubs and both built. They both emphasised the significance of youth and attacking football. The a very important factor that can separate both of these is the impact they have on the team within their time beyond the dugout. Ferguson has gained more awards than his tutor, but his next challenge is to secure Manchester United's place in English and European football for the decades ahead. When Busby left Old Trafford, United faltered. These were directed in 1974 and went 26 years without winning the league title. Ferguson does not want to be related to such failure, even in his retirement. His greatest achievement, and the one that would get him above Busby and on to a stand of his own, would function as design of a group that outlives him but plays on in his image. De Gea, Da Silva, Frank Smalling, Jonny Evans, Danny Welbeck, Javier HernAndez and Ben Cleverley can all play their parts. The captaincy might be even taken by jones. But will he function as the future of the club?

Juve, Milan, Barca, PSG? When Has Zlatan Ibrahimovic Experienced His Best Football?

Ibrahimovic's three goals together with seven assists in nine games this season with PSG is equalled, perhaps, only by last season's share for Milan with several goals and four assists in eight matches.

Ibra won more with Milan, but more only reached the quarterfinals the place they lost to Barcelona. PSG were eliminated in the same stage, by the exact same team, earlier this period.

It is difficult to split the two main as it is clear that this 31-year-old is in his prime and contains hit a productive optimum. Equally capable of rating goals and providing these individuals, the Swede set standard for a good season since 2008-09 and only deviated due to a change of country and type play.

That he has defeat this as fast as he's got in Ligue 1 is mostly a big achievement and shows that his time at PSG, so far, has just eclipsed their previous showings, solely in the value of having adapted to somewhat of a new new league so quickly.

Responsible for 43 percent of his side's goals this coming year, Ibrahimovic has embraced his role as being the focal point of the team and it is thriving in the The french language capital.

Wilfried Zaha: Why Manchester United Fans Ought to be Excited About Him.

A lot of Manchester United fans ended up left scratching their heads when it was eventually announced in January that Wilfried Zaha ended up being signed for upwards of £10 thousand thousand.

Loaned back immediately to promotion-chasing Crystal Palace, there hasn't even been an opportunity to see the man intended for at Old Trafford.

They had questions asked about the transfer, the main one being why had a lot of money been spent at someone who had never played a sport of Premier League footballing before in his position?

Zaha remains a section of an unknown quantity a lot of. To the fan whom doesn't follow Championship action, that is.

This article will analyse the strengths and weaknesses within the Ivory Coast-born, England international and try to get to rest minds at ease.

He has only have you ever been on the books associated with Crystal Palace. He made his debut for any first team in 2010 old only 17.

The subsequent season, he was an everyday at Selhurst Park with manager Paul Hart in addition to his replacement George Burley.

He was often criticized by fans of Palace who felt he was a show pony in his start, trying too often so that you can beat his man and buy the spectacular.

In November this, Zaha made his global debut, playing for Roy Hodgson's England side inside of a friendly against Sweden.

And helping Palace to that Championship promotion playoffs, he scored two crucial goals with the semi-final second leg against Brighton. He will now enjoy one last game for ones Eagles at Wembley, within the playoff final.

He may not look the bulkiest 5'11", but Zaha is mostly a natural athlete. He is incredibly quick and has now excellent upper-body strength.

Just like a young Cristiano Ronaldo, he is never afraid to defend myself against an opposing defender and flaunt a new trick or two concurrently.

But i can agree that he is capable of beating his man one-on-one, something Ashley Young, the Red Devils' current first-choice to the left wing, isn't.

If one can find slightly worrying traits about Zaha, it is that he sometimes has a tendency to disappear in games. Everyday activity, Holloway switches him everywhere in the park to get him more for the ball, but this would not always work.

He has great stamina allowing it to run and run top to bottom the flanks. His sheltering ethic isn't great, but that could be taught by the Carrington guidance staff.

His ball control together with crossing abilities still need to be worked on, but just as before, these are flaws that can be ironed out.

But if his qualifications is anything to go by, the side will take the form of a 4-2-3-1, to learn traditional wingers.

Which translates that Wilfried Zaha will spend nearly all of his time playing over the left wing, unless you will find there's drastic change in personnel over the summer, which is extremley unlikely.

He is not yet a natural enough goalscorer to play for the reason that lone striker. His brace against Brighton a while back was impressive, but he'd only scored one goal before that inside Championship since the new year.

Over time, that is definitely possible that he could play for a wide forward or striker, but we're talking about what immediate impact he'll make here.

The Red Devils' wingers have been completely terrible this season—Nani, Ashley Teen and Antonio Valencia—no exception.

It would be unjust to label him "one money for hard times. " He will play next term, and My business is confident he will make an impact. He is definitely someone to get excited about.

Tony a2z Pulis Sacked: Stoke Community Fans, Be Careful What we Wish For.

Critics of Tony Pulis are seemingly found at every corner in a British press. Yet their accomplishments with Stoke Area have gone underappreciated. He came back so that you can Stoke in 2006 when boardroom intrigue had forced him right out of the job previously. That first season back for the manager of the Champion side, Pulis took a team a growing number of felt before the season happens to be relegated and just missed the promotion playoffs.

The subsequent year Pulis guided Stoke to help you automatic promotion and at once set to solidify Top League status. The season is a club's first in the top flight since the formation of the Premier League. The 2008-09 year or so saw Stoke gain 49 points and finish 12th in the table, never being truly threatened with relegation. Critics of Pulis complained concerning style of play but often conceded that this manager had to play a particular way to maximize outcomes. Rory Delap's long throws became something of fascination that season but would down the road prove fodder for the various critics Pulis was gathering.

The 2009-10 season watched Stoke buy several established Premier League performers and finish 11th, again not being threatened by relegation. Then again, the injury to Aaron Ramsey inside February 2010 put Pulis' tactics into question inside London press. The inquest that followed has never let up in actuality since. Stoke's style, while hardly easy on the eye ball, was keeping the club far off from seriously being threatened by relegation.

In a 2010-11 season, Stoke became more sophisicated in its play following your signing of Jermaine Pennant. Blended with Matthew Etherington, the two quick along with classy wingers gave Stoke an alternative dimension. The Potters attained the FA Cup Very last after smashing Bolton, a side that played out "the right way" under Owen Coyle in the Wembley semifinal. Yet Stoke was still unable to shake its reputation. Even so the reality was the Stoke finished ABOVE Arsenal with the discipline table that time of year and committed four fewer red card offenses compared to a Gunners.

The 2011-12 season watched Stoke compete in Europe and quality for ones knock-out stages of a Europa League, an immense accomplishment for the club of its proportions. The need to be competitive on multiple fronts hurt the team and the Potters resorted to the exact same negative tactics that had become infamous with the club's first two Premier League seasons.

This period, Stoke ran out from ideas and made certain unwise transfer moves nevertheless again survived despite a temporary scare to your end of April. However, the sense was that this Stoke City supporters were fed up of Pulis's too conservative tips, poor substitutions and incredibly elusive answers in press group meetings.

West Brom (under A2z tony Mowbray), Burnley and Blackpool all came up to the Premier League within Stoke's first three the seasons up and went back down despite critics lauding your open and free-flowing football the sides provided. Still Stoke, attacked by critics consistently for negativity, has not really been seriously relegation threatened in Pulis' tenure. The club serves as a model for responsible investing, savvy tactics to stop in the division and rejecting your advice of critics within the media (and among supporters) and doing what is best to remain inside the top flight. It is a model newly promoted sides could be wise to follow.

While Rogowski is among the most younger players on that team, her experience assures a unique situation, as older players seek advice on the game from the woman's. Although the experience helps make Rogowski the de facto leader for any Lady Outlawz, it can be a role that she allows with great pride together with devotion.

-Rock looking like a pixie near to Chandler? -Chandler's skinny shorts? -Rock's expression? -That they are standing in an Ames living room? -The fact that Chandler can be hanging with celebrities in lieu of playing in the postseason?

Stoke Location Reject Steven Nzonzi Transfer Request - caughtoffside.

The 24-year old handed within the request earlier this 7 days had apparently set his mind on a move away from the Britannia Stadium even in advance of Tony Pulis lost his job but chairman Chris Coates rejected the request at once.

The French midfielder sole joined Stoke last summertime from Blackburn Rovers for any fee of £3 million following on from the Lancashire club were relegated from the Premier League.

Nzonzi has developed into a key figure of the Stoke squad this year, making 38 appearances along with scoring once, but he is reportedly keen to become listed on a club that is spending the bulk within their season in the upper reaches within the table for once, and not just hovering around the pitfall door.

A statement to the club website read: "Stoke City can confirm the clubhouse has rejected a authored transfer request from midfielder Steven Nzonzi.

"Contrary to reports with the local media, the French midfielder tabled this request earlier this week prior to the departure of Tony Pulis in the Britannia Stadium.

Nzonzi began his position in Ligue 2 with Amiens before joining Blackburn during the past year where he went upon make just under 100 appearances.

NHL Playoffs 2013: Vital Lessons Learned Midway By way of 2nd Round.

This is the simple concept, but winning faceoffs are very important. If you go on a quick look at NHL. com, you will recognize that the Boston Bruins (58. 6 percent), San Jose Sharks (56. 6 percent) plus the Detroit Red Wings (52. 6 percent) will be in the top three to get faceoffs.

Patrice Bergeron and Chris Kelly of the Bruins are currently the very best two faceoff men inside playoffs, and they have been an integral part of the Bruins' success.

The Bruins took your 3-0 lead in Online game 3, and the reason they won was because of the faceoff efficiency. A key faceoff earn by Shawn Thornton with the defensive-zone led to some sort of game-winning goal by Daniel Paille, therefore further illustrated the great need of winning faceoffs.

The Rangers haven't been able to gain faceoffs, and they are No. 7 amongst a eight remaining teams within faceoff efficiency. The Blueshirts have only won 47. 9 percent health of their draws, and Derick Brassard leads the team using a 50. 8 percent economy rating.

Defensive-zone draws are necessary in the playoffs, because most of the faceoffs are the resulting an icing. When a team has tired players to the ice, winning a faceoff could possibly difference in winning or losing a game.

When you look at all the available data and present day standings, it is extremely evident that successful matchups win faceoffs.

Amazingly, Sadly, Fat Lineman Is now Even Fatter.

As clothing, football players are substantial people (the average excess weight of NFL players within the 250-range), and linemen are even bigger. There are hundreds with men who weigh above 300 pounds in today's NFL. But the 400 pound plateau is mostly a level not many have got attained.

Meet Terrell Brown, a former defensive tackle at Ole Miss that just signed a contract together with the St. Louis Rams. The undrafted free agent was previously listed at 6'10", 385 excess weight. Now? 403.

"Actually, we considered him in at 403, " Rams private coach Jeff Fisher said. "We had him in for the tryout, and he'd some issues that there were to clear up on a physical standpoint. He became them put behind your ex. "

This isn't just a huge concern of "God damn that guy is huge! " The ideal bodyweight for someone that height approximately 250 pounds — even if you pack on another 100 pounds perhaps just because he games football, he's still 50 lbs overweight. And the enormousness involving NFL teams — despite the fact that a temporary asset when aiming to open up running lanes or get following on from the quarterback — is finding its way back to haunt many former players. This New York Times article from 2011 details just some of the high-profile big fellas who died early from complications via obesity, including Reggie White and Grettle Hand.

Think about it in this way: The dude nicknamed "The Refrigerator" considered about 325. Terrell Brown is the same as the Fridge holding some sort of 11-year-old boy.

We hope the Rams can help Brown get into some semblance of shape in the future. We don't need anything this way going down on a great NFL sideline:

Stephen Curry Shows Why He's NBA's Highest-Risk, Highest-Reward Superstar

If Stephen Curry were a commodity on the stock market, he'd have every neurotic, sleep-deprived, caffeine-addicted trader on Wall Street stuck on a spastic, coronary-inducing rollercoaster ride.

Just as he did to every die-hard hoops fan in Oakland—and every casual fan who caught on—during the Golden State Warriors' Cinderella run through the 2013 NBA playoffs.

Curry is the very embodiment of the vast chasm between risk and reward that regularly sends chills down the spines of play-it-safe general managers and sparks fun-but-feverish-but-also-pointless debates between talking heads, stay-at-home bloggers, "esteemed" columnists and outraged commenters alike. His appeal is predicated primarily on the three-point shot, which is "high risk" by its very nature: it's more difficult to make than most shots because it's farther from the basket, and misses often lead to quick run-outs for fast-breaking opponents.

To be sure, Curry's a far more reliable three-point shooter than most—on the whole, anyway. He's hit 44.6 percent of his regular-season three-point attempts as a pro (second all-time, behind only Steve Kerr) and set a new single-season record for made threes (272) while nailing 45.3 percent of his attempts (third in the NBA) in 2012-13.

But, like most players who rely so heavily on the Malthusian feast-or-famine cycle of the three-point line, Curry's game is prone to bouts of streakiness, good and bad. Check out the fluctuations in Curry's three-point attempts (in blue) and makes (in reddish orange) over the course of the most recent campaign, courtesy of SportingCharts.com:

His streakiness came to life most vividly during the Warriors' third quarters. According to NBA.com, Curry scored 9.2 of his 23.4 points, while shooting 58.6 percent from the field and 52.6 percent from three, in the first frame after halftime in these playoffs.

That's all well and good, and made for several spectacular shows of shooting pyrotechnics (see: Game 4 vs. the Denver Nuggets, Game 1 vs. the Spurs).

But what about the other three quarters? Curry hit under 40 percent of his shots and averaged fewer than five points per quarter in those other than the third stanza, including a disconcerting line (3.9 points, 36 percent from the field, 21.7 percent from three) in the fourth.

This isn't to suggest that Curry isn't "clutch" or that he shrinks under pressure. Rather, this disparity simply highlights just how erratic Steph can be and was in his first postseason and, as such, how dangerous it is for a team like the Warriors to pin its hopes for advancement on such a player's exploits.

(Assuming Curry's patterns stagnate, of course...which they probably won't. After all, this was Steph's first foray into postseason basketball, which, by definition, makes this the longest and most taxing year of his basketball life.)

Steph's taste for the spectacular, though, is an integral part of what makes him great. Even when Curry steps inside the arc, his attempts are often off-the-charts as far as degree of difficulty is concerned:

The same holds true for so much of his work as the primary ball-handler. The Warriors seemingly rose and fell right along with Curry's own successes and failures off the dribble in these playoffs. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Game 1 against the San Antonio Spurs saw Curry score 42 of his 44 points off the dribble while hitting 18-of-34 such attempts, including 8-of-15 either coming off screens or on pick-and-rolls.

However, Curry tallied just 45 points total off the dribble on 35 percent shooting over Golden State's next four games. Steph also shot a subpar 33 percent off screens and pick-and-rolls during Games 2 through 6.

The blame for that dropoff can be attributed (at your own discretion) to Curry's streakiness, his tender ankles (and the re-aggravation of a pre-existing sprain in Game 3) and/or the way in which the Spurs sicked Danny Green on him (and Kawhi Leonard on Klay Thompson) after Game 2.

When he wasn't scoring, Curry remained active as a pseudo-point guard, as is his wont. He led the league in total assists through the first two rounds, with eight games of eight or more helpers and three double-doubles.

Unfortunately, Curry's penchant for the stupendous often leads to stupid mistakes and the concomitant giveaways. Steph piled up 40 turnovers in 12 postseason games—more than anyone in these playoffs save for Kevin Durant and Paul George.

There's no denying the pure bliss that Curry brings to the game with his lightning-quick, off-the-dribble dishes with his weak hand. When delivered properly, they can (and often do) bring the enthusiasm of the attendant crowd to a fever pitch and spark big runs for the Warriors—not unlike the residual effect from any one of Curry's long-range treys from the other side of the Bay.

The operative phrase here being "When delivered properly." Steph is by no means an elite playmaker (not yet, anyway). At times, he plays too fast and too loose with the ball relative to his abilities. Such makes for thrilling on-court theater, though it often gives way to less heady, less steady play at a position (point guard) that is arguably the most important in today's NBA.

But that lack of predictability is a crucial component of Curry's appeal: He's the NBA's answer to the Wallendas, if the Wallendas were also brazen enough to juggle small pets while tightrope-walking across Niagara Falls. He's fun to watch precisely because the things he does are, indeed, so difficult to do and even more difficult to foresee, even if you already know exactly what to expect. Watching Curry, then, is not unlike stepping into the batter's box against New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera; the cutter is coming, but good luck making solid contact.

Like Rivera, much of the superstar appeal for Curry also stems from the fact that his particular talents are hardly (if at all) reliant on overwhelming athletic prowess. At 6'3" and 185 pounds with a weather-resistant babyface (no, not that Babyface), Curry hardly cuts an imposing figure on a court so often tread by giant superhumans like LeBron James and Dwight Howard. As such, rare is the occasion that Curry finds himself at the rim—even rarer by way of a dunk.

Likewise, Steph's lack of size, strength and sheer power leaves him vulnerable to the defensive stylings of perimeter stoppers like Danny Green. The Spurs' shooting guard was able to fluster Curry's feather-soft shot with his superior height, length and athleticism once Gregg Popovich made the switch in time for Game 3 (per NBA.com). That single, brilliant adjustment managed to dampen considerably the Warriors' hopes for another ride in the pumpkin-turned-carriage.

The frailty of Curry's game, then, extends almost too poetically (even dangerously so) to his corporeal reality. Sure, he's still only 25 and—with a four-year, $44 million extension soon to kick in—he'll rank among the most reasonably paid players in the NBA, given his current skill set and the vast potential for improvement that remains.

But the value of Curry's contract depends precariously on his ability to, y'know, play. He did well to feature in 78 of the Warriors' 82 regular season games in 2012-13, and even better to check in seventh in the league in minutes per game (38.2). More admirable still, Curry fought through fatigue to play 41.4 minutes per game during the playoffs, including all but four seconds of Golden State's double-overtime loss in Game 1 of their series against the Spurs.

All of this, mind you, came with time bombs strapped around Steph's tenuous ankles, tick-tocking away. They were tender all season, in the wake of surgery, and were tested by tweaks not once, but twice in the playoffs alone. Anyone who plays basketball is vulnerable to career-threatening injury at any given moment, but Curry's past points to him being even more prone to debilitating setbacks in the future.

And if Steph can't play (much less play to the level of which we know he's capable), then it doesn't matter how much or how little Golden State is paying him, simply because they'd be lining the pockets of a guy who's not contributing.

Not that this is what's going to happen. Who knows? Maybe Steph will enjoy a long and fruitful career as the NBA's premiere shooter, one in which his ankles prove little more than occasional hindrances. Maybe he'll improve as a passer, become a factor defensively and flesh out his game to the point where he can be productive when his shot isn't falling.

None of that potential reward can entirely preclude the risk inherent in Curry's game and his frame. He is who he is—a scrawny, superb shooter who can heat up in a flash, and whose ability to do so makes him must-see TV—and is great because of who he is. You wouldn't want Mark Jackson to box him into a role that doesn't suit his obvious strengths, just as you wouldn't want Scott Brooks imploring Russell Westbrook to tone it down, Erik Spoelstra instructing LeBron James to focus on one thing rather than allowing him to dabble as he does so well, or any other coach telling any other player to be something he isn't.

But that's the danger of building around a player like Curry, as the Warriors appear to be doing. When he's on, he can carry you, but there's no telling for how long he can stoke the fire, NBA Jam style, without burning the candle at both ends.

The key for the Warriors, then, is to surround Steph with a steady supporting cast that can get down and dirty defensively and pick up easy baskets when Curry's shot isn't dropping on the other end. That way, Golden State will be better able to mitigate the deleterious effects of Steph's cold spells while maximizing his hot streaks. The 2010-11 Dallas Mavericks, with Dirk Nowitzki at the fore, established a blueprint for success under such circumstances that the Warriors would be wise to follow in the future.

For now, though, we bid a tearful adieu to the gutty Warriors and, specifically, to Steph Curry, who we all saw explore the depths of his talents and blossom into the league's next and most exciting superstar.

Manuel Pellegrini is the right manager for Manchester City - SI.com

The imminent departure of Roberto Mancini as Manchester City coach may not be welcomed by the fans, who at times during the team's FA Cup final defeat to Wigan Athletic on Saturday sang, "You can stick Pellegrini up you're a**e!" But for City's chief executive, Ferran Soriano, and sporting director Txiki Begiristain, the likely appointment of Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini in his place makes perfect sense, and is far from the risk it has been portrayed in some quarters.

As a Manchester club prepares for a second managerial change within a week, here are some thoughts on Mancini, Pellegrini and City's future.

1. Mancini was gone before the FA Cup final. City does not have the type of owner that would sack a coach on the basis of one result, so Mancini's future was not purely contingent on the result of Saturday's FA Cup final against Wigan (a 1-0 loss). That said, while missing out on a trophy this season caps a poor return following last year's dramatic Premier League title, the nature of the defeat was a microcosm of City's season. It was lethargic, sluggish, complacent and tactically bettered.

Mancini continued his unappealing habit of coming up with excuses for his team's struggles. Failing to retain the Premier League title this season was down to the poor summer recruitment of former sports administrator Brian Marwood; the Champions League struggles were because of a lack of experience in the competition (despite having two previous winners in the squad, more than Chelsea had when it won last year); and after this FA Cup loss, he moaned about the leak from Spain that Pellegrini was set to replace him in the summer.

"If it's true then I'm stupid," he said, singling out City's head of communications, Vicky Kloss, also a club director, for not getting the story -- and others in the past -- spiked. It was the act of a man who has realized his time has run out. No more excuses, and certainly no admission of weakness; nor any sense that he has been in any way responsible.

2. Some players have got away with it. It's true that City has not played with the same intensity that took it to the title last season, and Mancini has made it clear that Samir Nasri is one of the culprits who has not lived up to expectations. In a frank admission of his coach's complaints, Nasri explained the reasons for his poor season to The Times last weekend; but it is unfair to single out just the Frenchman for his dip in form this season.

Goalkeeper Joe Hart has also not escaped Mancini's wrath, as the player who looked on course to join the elite keepers in world football also dropped his level. Mario Balotelli, now at AC Milan, was a constant source of frustration, which was all too apparent when pictures leaked earlier in the season of Mancini and his striker coming to blows.

But there are other players who have somehow become impervious to fewer top performances; perhaps because of their names, their below-par displays did not register. Yaya Toure has not had the big, game-changing influence of last season (yet still managed to score a pay rise and a new four-year contract); David Silva and Sergio Aguero have been disrupted by injury; and I would suggest that captain Vincent Kompany, while his presence is crucial in City's defense, has not had a great season; his mistakes in the Champions League group games led to goals (particularly against Ajax) and in the FA Cup semifinal against Chelsea, he gave Demba Ba room to equalize and was lucky not to concede a late penalty for tugging Fernando Torres' shirt. This one is not a Mancini knock (why would he draw attention if his captain is out of form?) but worth a mention.

3. Pellegrini could have been in England by now. The anti-Pellegrini camp, which contain those fans who don't just want Mancini to stay, but others who want him replaced "the United way," with an up-and-coming British equivalent (like who, Steve Bruce?), have pointed to his lack of European trophies (not quite true -- he won the InterToto Cup with Villarreal in 2004) and failure to succeed at Real Madrid just after it signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Xabi Alonso and Karim Benzema, the most expensive squad ever assembled (but sold Robben, whom Pellegrini wanted to keep).

The idea put forward by one British columnist, writing in the Daily Mail, is that Soriano and Begiristain are tapping into the flavor of the month in the league they know best; but that is a harsh simplification that suggests Pellegrini's achievements with Malaga, while sensational -- reaching the Champions League last eight with players who weren't getting paid on time and a squad that kept losing its best players -- are a flash in the pan.

Not true: at Villarreal he was a penalty kick away from reaching a Champions League final. and, two years later, was the last coach whose side came between Real Madrid and Barcelona in the league. His year at Real Madrid brought the club a record points total, 96, and it was then he had his first approach from a Premier League club. In summer 2010, he was on a short-list of two names for the job of Liverpool coach. The other name: Roy Hodgson. If it was a sliding-doors moment in the history of the club, it was also one for Pellegrini.

"I would have loved to work for Liverpool," he told Chilean paper El Mercurio. "It was a shame that they didn't hire me. What happened? The directors told me they had two options: Roy Hodgson and me. Finally, they picked him, as the directors told me they preferred to go with an English manager."

He also claimed to have been contacted by clubs in Mexico, Argentina the Japan national team and ... Chelsea. If Jose Mourinho ends up at Chelsea, it will be an intriguing matchup between the two; in Spain, Mourinho has tried to bait his predecessor about his spell in Madrid but has never ruffled the Chilean. Not much does.

4. Everything is connected. Raphael Honigstein wrote eloquently on these pages last week about how the major transfer moves in the Bundesliga were all intricately connected to one another and the same "butterfly effect" is taking shape as a result of this move. City's first choice may have been Pep Guardiola; his move to Bayern may signal the end of Robben in Munich; on Sunday, the Dutch press linked the winger with a move to City, citing the 4-3-3 system that Begiristain is keen to implement next season.

On the day that Wigan made history, Monaco, the team Mancini might have joined last summer were it not for Sergio Aguero's title-winning goal, ensured its promotion to Ligue 1; it was also reported the club had agreed to pay Atletico Madrid €60 million for striker Radamel Falcao, a player that is also on City's list of targets.

Then there is Alcorcon. The name might ring a bell. It's the second-division club that beat Pellegrini's Real Madrid 4-0 in the Spanish Cup in October 2009. That was the moment, just two months into his reign, that the campaign to get rid of him began. Marca, the newspaper seen as the mouthpiece of president Florentino Perez, ran the headline, "Go Now!" (When Madrid lost in the Champions League round of 16 to Lyon, the paper wrote, "Get Out!" and after Barcelona ensured its title success with a spring win at the Bernabeu, it wrote: "The lie that is Pellegrini is finally over.")

Anyone heard of Alcorcon lately? Yes, actually. It popped up in this video from Spanish TV show "Punto Pelota," reporting that Mourinho, who replaced Pellegrini in Madrid, had gone to that city's branch of Ikea to buy some packing boxes. And last weekend, Alcorcon lost its second-division league game 3-1 at home to Villarreal, which of course was Pellegrini's first club as coach in Spain.

Sunderland vs. Everton, 2013 Premier League: Final score 1-0 ...

Sunderland prevailed in an entertaining game at the Stadium of Light which moves them closer to safety but deals a potentially fatal blow to Everton's hopes of Champions League qualification.

The game got off to a largely scrappy start, although despite Sunderland's energy, the home side initially struggled to get onto the ball as Everton gained control of the midfield. A tough and disciplined defensive display prevented the visitors from making any real use of their possession, however, with the Toffees barely mustering a half-chance on goal in the opening half-hour.

Sunderland looked dangerous when they did get forward, and Adam Johnson forced Tim Howard into a panicky fisted clearance, before Sebastian Larsson went close with two free-kicks, the first of which whistled past the top corner with Howard apparently beaten, and the second of which the American did brilliantly to keep out, scampering over to his far post and tipping the ball away with Larsson ready to celebrate.

Yet with Sunderland improving towards the end of the half, the Black Cats managed to break the deadlock before the whistle, much to the delight of the home crowd. It came about due to a catastrophic error from Leighton Baines, a brainless pass into the ether being snaffled up by Sebastian Larsson, who played in Stephane Sessegnon, whose low, squirming shot could not be kept out by Tim Howard.

The second half started little better for the visitors, but despite getting some joy down the right flank through Johnson and putting real pressure on the Everton goal, the quality of the delivery from the hosts could not match their hustle and bluster, and David Moyes' men were able to hold out.

After withstanding Sunderland's attack, Everton appeared to regroup late on to mount a comeback attempt, and there was some drama when Larsson gave them a huge opportunity with a silly backpass for Mignolet, who had no choice but to handle the ball. The resultant free-kick saw a chaotic passage of play as the wall stood firm, but through a serious of blocks, hacks, and desperate clearances Sunderland managed to keep their lead intact.

Sunderland had the chance to seal the win with time running out as Johnson and Sessegnon sprung with most of the Everton team forward, but the Englishman chose to go on the run himself, and Howard managed to keep out his finish with an outstretched leg to keep his team in with a shout. The visitors were unable to mount any further real pressure, however, and Sunderland held out for another superb victory to follow up their derby success.

Glute Stability with the Golf Swing.

90% of recreational players have weak glute strength and therefore stability issues in your golf swings. Here's tips on how to strengthen yours and play several of your best golf ever.

The glutes (ok, for others – the sofa! ) are the most significant, strongest muscles in your physique. I was really made mindful of this with my recent stop by at FitGolf Performance Center around Wilmington, MA.

Why usually are they important? Because they play a role in helping prevent people from swaying and dropping your hips by stabilizing your lower body. Additionally act as a stabilizer to help prevent you from losing posture in your backswing (by standing up) or early extending inside your downswing (by moving forward).

Also, they are very important as they can be a real source of power in your golf swing. They help transfer energy through your lower body to your upper body creating a tight, powerful coil and eventual release of power with the hands into the shot.

The funny thing has been I thought mine ended up being fairly strong until My partner and i was tested (I had been tested both statically and dynamically). I guess in some ways it's not surprising as I sit a lot of the day (I do a substantial amount of software development) – even so, I do work released regularly but just visits show the *specificity* from golf fitness training you'll want to play solid, consistent world of golf.

Since doing some these flute strengthening exercises I've felt more solid inside my swing than ever. It's truly quite amazing. Just look at the stability these PGA pros need to get out of the tough swinging as hard as they do. (by the strategy, sign up and win by checking the PGA Tour odds at bettingpro. com) You should have solid core and lower body stability (and mobility) to play golf effectively.

If you ever already have a world of golf fitness routine, no concern, just add some the hands down exercise to your schedule, they are easily incorporated into almost any program. Nevertheless, I must warn everyone, these seemingly simple exercises can prove to be pretty challenging, especially if they have been somewhat "dormant" for a while. In others words, expect your "sleepy" booty to wake up and let you know that it's still in existence! (by responding with certain soreness initially)

If I saw it to pick three for the exercises below I might do the Kettle bell move (1st and foremost), then that standing exercises (with bands) and the lunge exercise. These will offer a great base from where to work from (and most people won't kill yourself by wanting to do them all). Later, you can work inside the others listed below and also add additional ones you discover without any help. Of course, feel liberal to do them all any time you're so inclined.

Please allowed me to know how these are helping (or not) your round of golf. Also, if you have others that be good enough, please share them inside the comments sections below. Pleased butt-busting!

It's that time of year, folks—the College World Series is a few weeks away, the Major League Baseball draft is rapidly approaching and the college conference tournaments are kicking off.

More importantly, all eyes turn toward the powerful SEC and its conference tournament. With the top team in the nation, Vanderbilt, and five other Top-25 teams, this promises to be one of the most competitive tournaments in the country.

The favorites coming into the tournament will not be traditional powers like LSU or Florida, recent juggernaut South Carolina or an Arkansas team that made a deep run in last year's College World Series.

Nope, the favorite is Vanderbilt, which set an SEC record with 26 wins in the league this season (48-7, 26-3). The Commodores are led by second baseman Tony Kemp (.408) and are extremely balanced, leading the league in team batting average and backing that with one of the SEC's best pitching staffs.

They're also the top-ranked team in the nation in just about every poll. Then again, don't sleep on LSU, a team that is ranked either second or third in most polls. This is far from a two-team league, as Arkansas, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are all ranked in most Top-25 polls, but the clear favorites in this tournament are Vanderbilt and LSU.

If you are looking to do a little scouting at the tournament with the Major League Baseball draft a few weeks away, keep an eye on right-handed pitcher Ryne Stanek of Arkansas and outfielder Hunter Renfroe of Mississippi State.

Don't underestimate Missouri. The team may be just a 12-seed in this tournament, but the Tigers won the Big 12 tournament a year ago and could surprise some folks with a first-round upset over Mississippi State.

The first-day highlight will be league rivals Alabama and Auburn facing in the second game. Good luck picking a winner in this one. The teams split the four games they played this year.

However, don't sleep on Alabama. The Crimson Tide are the only SEC team to beat both Vanderbilt and LSU this season.

It may be unoriginal, but Vanderbilt was so dominant this season—and is so balanced in its lineup and pitching—that I'm not going to bet against the Commodores. I think chalk will hold here and they'll face LSU in the final.

As per your sleeper, I think Alabama is capable of making a deep run down in the loser's bracket. The Tide won't beat LSU in the second round, but should advance to the weekend after falling to the Tigers.

One of the biggest disappointments of the tournament will be traditional power Florida losing its first game to Texas A&M and dropping out of the tournament.

A Daily Yam: Pavel Datsyuk Dismissed from your job A Killer Wrist Photo Past Corey Crawford.

Welcome to your Daily Yam, bringing people Yesterday's Action Moment, anything else you might have missed, and what to look forward to today. It's your one-stop shop whenever you skipped last night's action, or have forgotten what day it's. Last night forward Pavel Datsyuk made it easier for the Red Wings go on a 2-1 series lead in the Blackhawks with a bad wrister that made goalie Corey Crawford look foolish.

Coming into this series, Crawford had a 1. 27 goals against average within the postseason, which is to talk about he has played perfectly. But not even a fantastic goalie — perhaps not even a great goalie — may have stopped this twisted wrister (ouch sorry I realize I know):

I don't think I've at any time seen a puck jump in and right out of the goal that fast — and I've seen over seven hockey games this coming year alone.

The Knicks continued to help you sit at home at night and think about your mistakes; the Indians had a remarkable comeback win capped with a walkoff three-run homer about the Mariners, 10-8; the Yankees also came back to win in skills, beating the Orioles 6-4 as a result of Travis Hafner's late heroics.

The NBA returns with Game 2 of the Spurs-Grizzlies series, 9 r. m. ET; Bruins-Rangers for 7: 30 p. t. ET; Kings-Sharks at 10 g. m. ET.

Kobe Bryant Tweets About Lakers Offseason, Wants Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol in LA

With the Los Angeles Lakers approaching their most pivotal offseason in years, the Black Mamba has every intention of ensuring that his will be done. And that will includes convincing Dwight Howard to remain in Hollywood and persuading the Buss family to hold on to Pau Gasol as well.

The Lakers have a lot riding on this offseason; Kobe has a lot riding on this offseason. Though he's previously said he's not ready to retire, his ruptured Achilles serves as a reminder that time is running out.

If Kobe wants to get that sixth championship ring of his (and he does), he has to make a play for it now, not later. He might not be around for "later."

Naturally, he'll then want a say in how the roster is assembled. Knowing how financially strapped the Lakers are, he understands that they'll have to make the biggest splash by swimming in their own pool.

Los Angeles cannot go out and offer stacks of cash to free agents of its choosing. That's why retaining Howard is so important. If the Lakers cannot sell him on staying, they don't get to take that money and give it to someone else. They'll simply be down one superstar.

Although the two have admitted they're not "best friends," they've reached a mutual understanding. Or at least Kobe has. For him to win now, he knows he needs Dwight. And Pau, too.

Gasol is coming off the worst season of his NBA career and will likely never be the four-time All-Star he once was, but Bryant sees the value in his presence.

The two are incredibly close. Emotions then have stand to cloud Bryant's judgment. At the same time, Gasol is worth more to the Lakers than they whatever they would net in any trade for him. Kobe gets this as well.

These Lakers are headed for an inevitable overhaul—a rebuilding project that Kobe will do everything he can to delay at least one more year.

Alan Pardew: I will tune in to Newcastle United supporters - ChronicleLive

Alan Pardew has unmasked he will tune in to the issues of Newcastle United fans a but only after Premier League security is assured Alan Pardew says he is prepared to pay attention to unhappy Newcastle United fansa dilemmas and concerns over what's changed into an unhealthy season. But just after he's led the Magpies to Premier League safety. Pardew thanked Toon supporters for sticking with his staff on Saturday at West Brom and perhaps not letting growing discontent to attract from the terraces onto the subject. Every single MLB Team Will Put on Camouflage On Memorial Morning, Which Some People Think Can be described as Dick Move.

Funeral Day is next From monday, and there will come to be 16 MLB games. Imagine that every team is usually playing (and there's a doubleheader)! Reportedly, they'll just about all be wearing camouflage outfits.

At first glance, this approach sounds great! Right? Effectively, Paul Lukas of Uni-Watch disagrees, extremely strongly.

Memorial Day is simply not a day for celebrating your military. It's a morning for honoring the military services dead. A more appropriate gesture might possibly be an MLB-wide black armband. An even better gesture has to be pregame moment of stop, without anything on this uniform. But as is often the case nowadays, merchandising and pandering trump a wise practice.

What do you guys think? Is MLB a variety of unsympathetic capitalists, a bunch of great pals of our brave, fallen soldiers, or something different? Chime in with reviews below, or Tweet people @SportsGrid or me @Mattrud.

Soccer: Chivas hot start surprises RSL | The Salt Lake Tribune

The Los Angeles soccer club had endured its third straight season with single-digit victories. Newly hired coach Jose Luis Sanchez Sola's remarks about a shift in Chivas' playing style and the club's focus on Mexican-American players drew scoffs from fans and pundits. The punch line seemed to come on March 2, when Chivas suffered a 3-0 opening-night loss in front of sparse crowd at the Home Depot Center.

About Chivas » The team's 10 goals are second most in MLS. ... Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy leads the league in saves with 28. ... Forward Juan Agudelo leads the club with two goals.

About RSL » The team is coming off a 1-1 draw in Vancouver, the fifth road match in its first seven games. ... Goalie Nick Rimando's 23 saves are the second most in MLS, behind only Chivas' Kennedy.

When Chivas comes to Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, the Goats (3-2-1) will be sitting in second place in the Western Conference, off to one of the best starts in franchise history.

"I'm a little bit surprised," RSL coach Jason Kreis said this week. "It's a brand new team with a brand new coach. If you just count the number of players in their starting group that were in their starting group last year, it's very low. What they have done is they've bought into their coach's system and they work extremely hard. They want it in the worst way.

"My feeling is, in this league, the team that wants it in the worst way oftentimes gets it. ... I preach that to my team as well."

"We are going to try to implement a more appealing style of soccer for our fans, without forgetting that we are a team that plays in the United States," he said at the time. "We will look to appeal to both cultures while obtaining positive results for the club. I feel that Chivas USA, at some point, lost that flavor and technique with the ball that is emphasized in Mexico and Latin America; we must re-establish that part and combine it with the MLS' style of play."

So far, Chivas' play has been effective, if not exactly beautiful. The team's 10 goals through six games are the second most in Major League Soccer. But the club has been content to gamble on defense, leaving goalkeeper Dan Kennedy to keep Chivas in some games.

"He's got a very, very inexperienced group," said national soccer analyst Brian Dunseth, who was briefly a part of Chivas after being traded from Real Salt Lake. "There aren't a lot of players that a lot of other teams would want or have wanted. And somehow he's figured out a way to be pretty competitive."

Sanchez Sola, the former head of Puebla in Mexico's Liga MX, has rankled plenty with his outspokenness and roster moves. But so far, Chivas' roster moves have seemed to work.

"The team was in need of a radical overhaul," Dunseth said. "Talking with [players], it sounds as if this group is having a lot of fun. Chelis is a spark. He's a personality, and ... he's got them believing."

Stansted United Summer Transfer Information: What the Reds Need with the Window.

Manchester United will begin next season without a services of Paul Scholes, arguably the best British footballer of her generation, and Sir Alex Ferguson, inarguably the optimum manager.

Many fans are not old enough to recall a time before Ferguson, and subsequent to 26 years, it is actually the end of an era.

David Moyes will have got his work cut released if he wishes to emulate the near-constant a higher level success seen under this predecessor. With Manchester City and Chelsea likely to pose a better threat under new cutting edge managers, reinforcements will be very important to United.

Although Ferguson has tried using Phil Jones and Wayne Rooney in the middle of the pitch, a bona-fide central midfielder continues to the No. 1 main concern. Particularly given it looks increasingly likely that Rooney will not be around for much more time.

United have forward adult men of genuine quality, an excellent goalkeeper and, with the exception of left-back, real strength thorough at the back. Assuming the funds is unavailable to entice Cristiano Ronaldo or sponsor Gareth Bale, a midfield enforcer needs to be the priority.

Michael Carrick has probably been United's player with the season, and it is tempting to suggest brawn might be the perfect accompaniment to help his brains.

Too often within the biggest games, Jones has been fielded part way through the pitch when a out-and-out central midfielder would likely clearly be preferable. Celtic's Victor Wanyama would appear a decent option, not to mention Newcastle's Cheick Tiote, even if it's a disappointing season with the Ivorian on Tyneside.

A marquee signing will be your absolute ideal scenario, nevertheless. Although Ferguson has stressed the significance of giving the completely new man time, a backlash is inevitable generally if the team start slowly under Moyes. Capturing Bale or bringing Ronaldo back in Manchester would reassure a fans that money can be purchased and the club offers lost none of its lustre without Ferguson at the helm.

It is hard to trust Ronaldo would leave Madrid to become listed on a United side don't overseen by his former mentor, but perhaps Ferguson will still have some sway over transfers in his capacity being a director. The fans are able to but hope.

The Premier League's player for the year, Gareth Bale, is normally another possibility. With Ryan Giggs unlikely to carry on beyond the end of next season, it can be a comfort to your United faithful to stretch of land the Welsh winger exactly who considers Giggs an idol. Much will depend on whether Tottenham can qualify for the Champions League in addition to, if not, whether Bale is any type of player who would look into moving abroad.

If Spurs omit to make the top four and also the Welshman has the desire to leave the club and not the country, United and City are the sole candidates for his unsecured personal. The Reds would be unlikely to fit the wages on present at City, but sometimes money isn't everything. Robin van Persie is evidence of that.

One can only hope Moyes manages to bring in a player for the par with Van Persie. And that it works out as well as that particular transfer.
