Getting competed for three seasons together with the Calgary Rage, Stacey Rogowski increases the expansion Okotoks Lady Outlawz which includes a veteran perspective. Playing for the newest entry in this Western Women's Canadian Hockey League, Rogowski extols all the qualities of leadership.
Being an athlete that has enjoyed differing types of competition, Rogowski contains a sporting background that covers a vast breadth of endeavors. Her leadership was evident with a young age as she helped make secondary school rugby a reality for competitive girls.
"My over-all life has always revolved round sports. I was any type of athlete that would give any sport trying. I started out as playing on the boy's hockey team when i was 8 years old to playing sports like soccer, basketball and rugby through school. I even helped start-up my high school rugby power team because my friends and I were sick of the boys having many of the fun with the extensive contact sports. "
"I never really truly considered playing football in secondary school, as I knew I could be the only girl on a field. Yet, I was still at all the games watching and entertaining the team on. Then when a friend mentioned some women's football team, I knew I'd to play. I instantly fell gets interested the intensity and team facet of the game. "
Rogowski's first joined the Calgary Rage truly, when the franchise was perhaps the former AFFL (Alberta Female Football League). When the AFFL assimilated teams from Manitoba and Saskatchewan in becoming the WWCFL, she became among the list of women's football players of which suddenly became pioneers.
"My first three seasons together with the Rage were amazing. I broke my ankle around my first season, so that's not what I would probably call successful. In a second year, I was named outstanding offensive back of the year. When I started along with the Rage, it was tough. As the Rage were just commencing their second year, this starting couple years are always tough for (new) teams. "
Those first three seasons along with the Rage provided Rogowski while using the confidence to persevere. In having had an opportunity to compete with a close-knit gang of players, the camaraderie and being of family enriched the knowledge.
"Learning football and getting that instinct you will want comes through games along with experience. The team improved as the years went on, and the players tend to be super competitive and have a plethora of heart. The coaching staff was always excellent, and I do consumer credit them and my previous teammates to create me into the confident player I am today. "
Although Rogowski joined the expansion Lady Outlawz for ones 2013 season, the roots of respect and friendship that have been established in Calgary still bear fruit.
"I didn't abandon the Rage on unhealthy terms. In fact I still talk to handful of them 7 days a week, some even daily. Barry Hunter was that coach of Calgary Rage to look at first joined them—he and I had a good player-coach relationship and Thought about enjoyed playing for your ex. "
"When he told me he was going to start a team inside Okotoks, I thought it may be great to help start-up anew. I knew I should be a player that could provide experience and knowledge so that you can these new players. "
Though the Lady Outlawz continue to be looking for their earliest win in franchise story, Rogowski understands that the inaugural season is a learning experience. After struggling with an ankle injury with her first year by means of Calgary, Rogowski understands about adversity, character and the desire to remain a positive approach.
"This year has been demanding for our "rookie power team. " I just make an attempt to keep my teammates positive and actually tell them to learn perhaps up to they can. "
While using the blend of younger and older players to the Lady Outlawz, the diverse mix results in a special dynamic. For the team features several mother, their patience and maturity helps to provide a calming presence for any nascent franchise.
"We do have quite the age range on this group. I think we all balance oneself pretty well. To people, I do not treatment how old you are—all I treasure is how much heart you play with and what we bring to the game. I know every probably my teammates regardless old will give it 100 percent on the field. "
"I still find it great that we have moms available playing with younger players. Us younger ones know that we will always be taken care of and looked out for with our "football mommas. " We get a hold of a mother-daughter pair playing on we. Trust me, the two consultants compliment each other. No one wants to disappoint ones own moms, and no mother wants to disappoint her daughter! "
While Rogowski is among the most younger players on that team, her experience assures a unique situation, as older players seek advice on the game from the woman's. Although the experience helps make Rogowski the de facto leader for any Lady Outlawz, it can be a role that she allows with great pride together with devotion.
"I definitely see myself to be a leader on the team, and I do recognise that my teammates look in my opinion for leadership and experience. From the very start of the season, the coaches and players all made myself feel (like), and almost expected me to be, a leader without the need to say it. "
"My teammates ask us about technique and any pointers I have for them. The coaches know they are able to throw me into any position and enquire of me to do everything, and I will give everything to ensure success. "
