Ottawa's roster is full of a bevvy of vibrant promising players. Without your contributions, the Senators might not have sniffed the postseason.
But as soon as spotlight grows brighter, it's time for the big boys to step up. That hasn't been the case for Ottawa through a few games against Pittsburgh inside the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Goalie Craig Anderson has been sensational against Montreal inside the opening round but bigger suddenly hit a rough patch versus the top-seeded Penguins. The NHL regular-season head in save percentage together with goals-against average didn't even enable it to be to the final horn of an Game 2 defeat.
Anderson allowed three goals on 21 shot attempts in Pittsburgh before being pulled through the game. He surrendered five scores in Game 1.
In the meantime, reigning Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson is constantly on the struggle since returning because of an Achilles injury. He carried a minus-2 status in Game 2 and obtained more penalties than shots and hits combined.
