Sunderland Sack Martin O’Neill After Defeat to Manchester United

Sunderland have sacked manager Martin O'Neill after the club lost to Manchester United today and dropped to 16th in the Premier League.

"Sunderland AFC has announced that it has parted company with manager Martin O'Neill this evening," read a club statement. "The club would like to place on record its thanks to Martin and wishes him well for the future. An announcement will be made in the coming days regarding a successor."

Martin O'Neill's side put in a languid performance in their 1-0 defeat today against Manchester United at the Stadium of Light. But the poor performances from a team that have lacked confidence, speed and ability have been a consistent part of Sunderland for several weeks. The last time Sunderland won a match in the Premier League was January 19 when they defeated Wigan Athletic 3-2.

With Wigan winning today, Sunderland find themselves staring into the face of relegation, just one point above the relegation drop zone. The club faces a dizzying prospect of upcoming matches against Chelsea, the Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle United and a game against Everton in quick succession.

Sunderland's American owner Ellis Short must have run out of patience with O'Neill. The club cannot afford to continue putting in results like it has been doing so. Plus, the injuries to Steven Fletcher and Lee Cattermole, who are both out for the rest of the season, make the situation even more dire.

Time is running out for Sunderland. Short will be expected to make a quick appointment to help give the club a bounce in order to try to stay up this season with just 7 matches to go.

What's your opinion about Martin O'Neill being sacked by Sunderland? And who do you think should replace him to keep the club up? Share your feedback in the comments section below.

Game Day Preview: Hurricanes @ Jets

The Story: To say that this afternoon's game between the Winnipeg Jets and Carolina Hurricanes is big would be the understatement of the year.

Winnipeg lost 4-0 to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night and will look to get back into the win column today after a disappointing effort in their last game against the best team in the Eastern Conference, and arguably, the entire National Hockey League. Despite Thursday's loss, the Jets still hold down 3rd place in the East via their Southeast Division lead and are six points up on Carolina (1oth in East) and seven points up on the Washington Capitals (11th in East) for the division lead.

Carolina enters today's game on a four game losing streak. After losing 4-1 to the Jets on Tuesday, the Hurricanes were defeated 6-3 by the Toronto Maple Leafs and have won just two of their last 10 games, remarkable for a team loaded with offensive talent.

Similar to the Winnipeg Jets, the Hurricanes have been wildly inconsistent this year and have struggled on the defensive end of the game. Carolina is ranked 22nd in the NHL in goals against per game (2.97 goals/game, Winnipeg is ranked 21st, 2.89 goals/game) and are currently without the services of number-1 netminder Cam Ward, who has missed the last month with a knee sprain.

26-year-old Justin Peters has played the last two games for the Hurricanes and has played 7 games this year with a record of 2-4-0, a 3.18 Goals Against Average and .899 save percentage. Ellis will accompany the Hurricanes to Winnipeg but it is not known if he will start tonight as he also been suffering from a leg injury.

One of the key matchups in today's game will be Carolina's number 1 line of Jiri Tlusty-Eric Staal-Alexander Semin against the Jets No.1 defense pairing of Tobias Enstrom and Dustin Byfuglien. The trio of Tlusty, Staal and Semin have put up big offensive numbers all year and the result of tonight's game will have a lot to do with the Jets ability to shut down these three forwards.

This is the third of four meetings between Carolina and Winnipeg this year with the Jets leading the season series with two wins (4-3 win on February 21st and 4-1 earlier this week). The fourth and final meeting of the season between the two teams takes place on Thursday April 18th in Winnipeg (7:00 p.m. CST).

Carolina Hurricanes: Eric Staal (15 goals, 21 assists, 36 points), Alexander Semin (9 goals, 23 assists, 32 points), Jiri Tlusty (14 goals, 9 assists, 23 points)

Winnipeg Jets: Andrew Ladd (14 goals, 18 assists, 32 points), Blake Wheeler (14 goals, 14 assists, 28 points) Evander Kane (13 goals, 12 assists, 25 points)

Carolina Hurricanes: Chad LaRose (illness), Dan Ellis (leg), Bobby Sanguinetti (upper body), Justin Faulk (knee), Cam Ward (knee)

Who's Next: After today, the Jets play their next three games on the road. On Monday, April 1, the Jets will play the New York Rangers (6:00 p.m. CST) followed by a game against the New York Islanders on Tuesday, April 2nd (6:00 p.m. CST). The third game of the road trip is Thursday, April 4th against the Montreal Canadiens (6:30 p.m. CST).

Super ‘Bow Sunday: Jets Still Trying To Trade Tebow – Where Does He Fit In?

It's no secret that Tim Tebow's days as a New York Jet are numbered. But the Jets aren't ready to release the backup quarterback just yet. After a season of downplaying his abilities and not showcasing him in any way, the team hopes to find a trade partner. Somehow, they're having trouble doing so.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, New York hopes to find a team willing to part with a mid/late draft pick for Tebow. You know, in spite of the fact that the Jets will almost certainly cut him and any potential team could just sign him without losing a pick in the process. Solid logic by the Jets, as usual.

The problem for the Jets, and Tebow for that matter, is that there seems to be almost no one interested in taking a chance on him.

"I can't imagine a scenario in which he'll be a Jacksonville Jaguar — even if he's released," new Jaguars general manager David Caldwell last month.

"My honest answer?" Lewis said last month. "No, no. I'm going into my eighth year, I've had about four or five different quarterbacks … we need a guy that's going to put us over the hump right now — not a project. Not taking anything away from Tebow, but we need a pure quarterback."

But isn't the NFL about winning games? Tebow may not be a prototypical passer, but you can't say he isn't a winner, or that he doesn't give his team an opportunity to win games. If nothing else, he is a prototypical caretaker quarterback.

In Tebow's last season as a full-time starter (2011-12 with the Denver Broncos), he threw for 1,650 yards and 11 touchdowns against just six interceptions in 11 regular season starts, compiling a 7-4 record. He also ran for 660 yards and six more touchdowns. In two playoff starts, he threw for 452 yards and two touchdowns (and no interceptions) in leading the Broncos to the second round of the playoffs. Granted, Tebow's completion percentage was 45.8% over the season and playoffs, but the more important statistic is that Denver went to the playoffs and even won a playoff game with Tebow at the helm.

And they were able to do so because Tebow didn't turn the ball over. With just six interceptions in 308 attempts, Tebow averaged one interception per 51 attempts. For comparison's sake, Dallas quarterback Tony Romo threw 19 interceptions in 648 attempts, an average of one interception per 34 attempts. Not that Romo is the model quarterback, but the Cowboys are just one example of several franchises (including San Diego, Detroit, and, well, the Jets) willing to roll the dice with more traditional quarterbacks who also happen to lose games for their team more often than not. The aforementioned teams went a combined 25-39 in 2012. Tebow, again, went 7-4 as a starter for Denver, not including 1-1 in the playoffs.

That isn't to say that Tebow can do it all by himself. Not by a long shot. As a Bronco, Tebow was undoubtedly helped by his supporting cast, including a 1,000-yard rusher in Willis McGahee. But the Denver defense was a mere 20th in yards allowed and 24th in points allowed, extremely mediocre by all accounts. Funnily enough, Tebow's current team, the Jets, were 8th in yards allowed and 20th in points allowed, yet finished 6-10 and missed the playoffs. With that kind of defense, you'd think the Jets would have been able to finish closer to .500. But with Mark Sanchez turning the ball over 26 times (18 interceptions and eight fumbles lost), New York simply was too busy beating themselves to beat any of their actual opponents. Imagine how much better the Jets would have been if they weren't throwing interceptions in the end zone or butt-fumbling for 16 games. Imagine how many games they would have won if they turned the ball over even, say, 16 times instead of 26.

I admit; given the opportunity, Tebow is never going to throw for 4,000 yards in a season. He'll probably never throw for 3,000 yards. But he's also never going to turn the ball over almost 30 times in one season and actively lose games for a team. And if you have a top defense that just needs an offense that won't screw up, Tim Tebow is actually a solid option as caretaker quarterback.

I, for one, hope Tebow does end up on the Cowboys. As a Dallas fan, I would welcome a quarterback that doesn't choke in the fourth quarter and can actually inspire his teammates while leading him to victory. I'll settle for pedestrian passing numbers if it means more wins, something Tony Romo doesn't currently provide.

March Mayhem 2013: Showing Under-the-Radar Matchups in Circular of 32

There are only 32 teams still living in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, including some Cinderellas who will look to crash the Sweet 16 party this weekend. With the very first two times in the publications, Saturday and Sunday's motion can function 16 activities sure to thrill school basketball fans and further damage brackets across America. However not every matchup is receiving the amount of nonsense it deserves. Under, we'll highlight a trio of under-the-radar matchups to watch for in the third round this weekend. No. 14 Harvard vs. No. 6 Arizona, Saturday, March 23 at 6:10 p.m. ET, TNT Streeter Lecka/Getty Images There was 14th-seeded Harvard, who captured the hearts and minds of college basketball fans after knocking off New Mexico on Thursday evening before there was Florida Gulf Coast. The Crimson will look to keep on dancing Saturday morning in Salt Lake City, where they will get on sixth-seeded Arizona in the round of 32. The Wildcats rejected Belmont's annoyed quote in the next round but may have their hands full increasing against Tommy Amaker's well-coached product. Harvard ranks sixth in the world in three-point firing, striking more than 40 percent from deep as a team in 2010, and represents at a slow, controlled rate. The Crimson list 329th in the united states in 2010 as a whole possessions and possess the perfect method for an upset. Plus, the Ivy League champions curently have a win over the Pac-12 this year, whipping California on the way back late December. Certainly, more talent is featured by Arizona, but this is the NCAA Tournament, where in fact the greater team, not the more talented team, moves on. No. 9 Temple versus. No. 1 Indiana, Sunday, March 24 at 2:45 p.m. ET, CBS Joe Robbins/Getty Photographs With problems identifying the 2013 NCAA Tournament for the absolute most part in early stages, Sunday afternoon's conflict between ninth-seeded Temple and top-seeded Indiana may supply a shocking result to begin the day's state of matchups. The Owls pulled off a talented staff in NC State in the 2nd round on Friday and provide an elite scorer in senior guard Khalif Wyatt, who dropped 31 on the Wolfpack. If Wyatt can set up his year average of 20 points or more and Temple can get another big-time performance from elderly sharpshooter Jake O'Brien (44 per cent from beyond the arc), the Owls will take Indiana to the line in Dayton this week-end. Another critical stat to help keep in your mind is that Temple is 8-5 in games determined by fewer than six points this year. Before they're with the capacity of providing in occasions when it keeps close the Owls have confirmed. There is too much to watch for on Indiana's area as well. Tom Crean's group is seen because the beloved in the East Region and features two of college basketball's best in Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller. If you have not had a chance to see much of the Hoosiers this year, Sunday afternoon's fight with Temple is a great chance to absorb all that Indiana and March have to provide. No. 7 Creighton versus. No. 2 Duke, Sunday, March 24 at 9:40 p.m. ET, TBS Elsa/Getty Photos The Bluejays and the Blue Devils can consider the round of 32 on Sunday night in Philadelphia while they fight for the remaining location in the Sweet 16. But this game is being ignored thanks to all the Cinderellas that will be suiting on Sunday, including 15th-seeded Florida Gulf Coast in the same industry in the overall game before this one. Creighton vs. Duke will feature two of the best players in the tournamenta'and all of college baseball, for that mattera'in Doug McDermott and Ryan Kelly. A National Player of the Entire Year prospect, McDermott is averaging 23 points per game and won 27 in Creighton's round of 64 win over Cincinnati on Friday. On the other side, Duke senior forward Ryan Kelly is a great shooting (47 % from beyond the arc) and a for Mike Krzyzewski's group. Duke is 19-1 this year with Kelly in the lineupa' that includes a make an impression on Louisville back November. Expect this sport to be fiercely contested throughout, as both Creighton and Duke are, without issue, Sweet 16-caliber teams. Follow Bleacher Report Included Writer Patrick Clarke on Facebook.

Features of Bolton Wanderers 1-0 Brighton and Hove Albion: Alonso makes it five

Missed the fit at the Reebok or simply were not troubled enough to remain up and watch the Football League Show? Here are the highlights of Bolton's fifth straight gain, arriving a tense 1-0 match against Brighton and Hove Albion. Brighton handled much of the game's possession, pictures, and corners, keeping the Bolton Wanderers protection active. The fullbacks, who did not have a particularly good game, were unable to stop lots of the balls that flew in to the field. Thanks to a combination of Andy Lonergan saves, defensive blocks, and shots just off target, Bolton could keep their next clean page in four games. Usually the one goal in the match arrived in the 20th second because of Marcos Alonso. Chung-Yong Lee cut inside from the proper and found Alonso breaking forward on the alternative wing. Alonso, never someone to shy away from an attempt, had a spin from the part of the region. The picture went over the face of target and to the bottom corner at the far post. So that you can watch the movie, struck the little play button in the bottom left-hand corner.

Kevin Keen: "I do think there is possible of a leader in Claudio... - Birmingham Mail

West Bromwich Albion: Claudio Yacob tipped to become a future Baggies skipper Claudio Yacob Claudio Yacob has the makings to be the next West Bromwich Albion chief. That is in accordance with Baggies assistant manager Kevin Keen, who feels the Argentina international has got the essential features to be always a skipper. Yacob has impressed all at The Hawthorns with the way he has adapted to Premier League football since his move from Racing Club last summer. And Keen thinks that after the 25-year-old features a better comprehension of English - he is currently having lessons - he'll bring a lot more to Steve Clarke's area. Asked whether Yacob is leader content, Keen said: aYes. Thatas my own opinion. aI can easily see sometimes in training that heas really wanting to say some things and he canat really speak that right now. aBut he's working very difficult at his English and I think within six months he will be able to get his some ideas over a lot better. aAnd I really do think there's a possibility of a leader there. aI think heas been an excellent acquisition for West Brom, I really do. aAnd heas an excellent lad around the place, his English is coming on and his lessons are going on non-stop. aOccasionally we hear him talk a little bit, and I think when he becomes a more communicative in English his part within the group will progress even more since I think having been captain of Racing Club, I think heas got a few ideas and leadership qualities about him that will progress even more when his English becomes even better." Excited continued: aHe got slightly of publicity early in the day in the period however he was out for quite a while with injury and the group missed him. aBut hopefully between now and the conclusion of the season, if he can remain wonderful actually, he can contribute to us getting our most useful complete ever." Yacob's protecting abilities have offered Albion's full-backs - Goran Popov or Liam Ridgewell on the left, Steven Reid or Billy Jones on the right - more license to obtain forward. However the south American has not been too impressed recently with other aspects of England. aHe hasnat been happy going back day or two with the weather," continued Keen. aItas 35 degrees home and he's standing, looking out of the window and shaking his head saying aKevin, what's this?a aItas very unusual for March, perhaps. aFor me he's come into the group as the kind of person that the head coach was trying to find and the role he has played in the staff has been very effective alongside the other midfield players who have played most of the period, Youssouf and James. aThe three of them have now been a primary aspect of the success place had this year with Claudio to arrive and playing that keeping role and being easy with his play but very clever with his breaking up of the oppositionas play. aThey (full-backs) know that if they proceed theyave got some body there who feels aBillyas gone, Iall only wander slightly that way in the event we lose ita. aThatas what he was introduced for, as an intelligent defensive person, a typical Argentinian No.5. aHe was earned from that culture. aHe has done very well along side so lots of the squad that have done extremely well this year."

Fantasy Baseball: Six Hitters With Hidden Value

The following article is a free preview excerpt from the RotoExperts.com Xclusive Edge Fantasy Baseball Package. Slay the opposition with a deluxe, comprehensive draft kit and complete regular season coverage to boot! Register now and gain complete access to a full Fantasy player database, player rankings for all formats and so much more.

Advertising has abused the word value for so long that it has become something we ignore when we see it. Value used to mean you were getting something more for your hard-earned buck, but ever since the Madison Avenue crowd made it their siren call to draw your attention to whatever it was they were pitching that day, we've become numbed to the word. We see it on every store window, read it in every Sunday newspaper flier and get pounded with it on television and radio thousands of times every year. Real value has become lost in an ocean of buzzwords designed to make us dig deep into our pockets and spend our money. In reality, value is hard to find.

In Fantasy Baseball, value…..real value, is there for all to see. However, if you only look at the statistics that matter in Fantasy Baseball – home runs, runs batted in, runs scored, stolen bases and batting average – you will not find the values you seek. You have to look deeper into the numbers, to the metrics that define a player's skills. Improvements in skill metrics are the true predictors of value when it comes to baseball players and the Fantasy game. There are no secrets here; it's right there in plain sight if you know where to look, and that's where we're heading right now – in search of the hitting values to be had on draft day in your Fantasy league.

There's no secret sauce to this; in some cases it's improved walk (increasing BB%) and strikeout percentages (decreasing K%) or a boost in isolated power (ISO), in others, a second half statistical surge or improvements in various strike zone recognition and swing metrics. Improvement in any combination of these skill metrics observed within the context of a player's statistical history can predict a potential future value. Let's be clear on this – hitter value in the context of Fantasy Baseball means that a player will outperform their draft position. In this case, we're looking for hitters who could potentially outperform their draft position by a significant amount; in some cases, we're talking about potential first round value. Now that you know what we're looking for and where we're looking for it, let's see which hitters you should consider value picks for the 2013 Fantasy Baseball season.

Shin-Soo Choo (OF, CIN) – The 2009 and 2010 seasons put Choo on the map as a Fantasy force, as he posted a pair of 20/20 seasons with a .300 batting average, On Base Percentages of .394 and .401 respectively along with excellent counting stats. In short, he was one of the most valuable, yet underrated outfielders in the Fantasy game. Then an injury-plagued 2011 disappointed everyone expecting another 20/20 season or perhaps better, especially given Choo's double-digit walk rates. The good news is that his skills remained intact during his partial comeback season in 2012, with exception of a slight dip in his fly ball rate (27.1-percent FB%) below his 32.3-percent career mark and a corresponding increase in groundball rate (49.7-percent GB%) up from a 45.7-percent career mark. The decrease in fly balls limited his home run output to just 16 round-trippers, but his speed was as good as ever, with 21 stolen bases at roughly the same success rate as 2010. Now that he'll be plying his craft in the HR-friendly confines of the Great American Ballpark, we should see an increase in homers this season. Since the Reds have indicated that Choo is penciled in to be their leadoff hitter, we should also see a nice bump in steals and he should have a decent shot at 100-plus runs scored. That kind of production will enable him to outperform his current ADP of #78 overall (according to NFBC ADP data) with a good shot at vaulting him into the Top-15 outfielders this season.

Alex Gordon (OF, KC) – Gordon was a very heavily hyped prospect and rookie who disappointed many with his slow development after a relatively strong debut in 2007. In fact, it wasn't until 2011 that Gordon finally silenced his critics and put up the kind of numbers that were expected of him: .303/.376/.502 with 23 HRs, 87 RBIs, 101 Runs and 17 stolen bases. Unfortunately, he took a step back in 2012, with less power (14 HRs) and fewer steals (10 SBs), but largely the same skill metrics. He hit significantly fewer fly balls, as his FB% dropped nearly six percentage points. Fortunately, the loss in fly balls resulted in more line drives (LD% rose to 25%, a career high) and just a few extra ground balls (GB% rose just 3.2 percentage points over 2011 to 42.3%). He had a rather unlucky fly ball to home run rate (HR/FB%) of 8.5-percent, which was well below the 12.5-percent he posted in 2011. Gordon had a terrific second half last season compared to his first half numbers. Nine of his 14 HRs came during the second half, his Isolated Power (ISO) rose 45 points to .184, and his HR/FB rate skied from 5.7-percent to a much more normal 11.7-percent. Once a player displays a skill, they own it for their career and can display it again at any time. So it is reasonable to think that Gordon can at least approach, if not exceed his 2011 production again, especially if he's moved down into one of the more traditional power slots in the lineup from last season's top of the order slot. Gordon's ADP is currently at #88 overall, but his skill set indicates he is capable of putting up at least a 20/20 season with a batting average north of .300. Gordon is 29 years old and still in his prime years as a major leaguer, so it's not unreasonable to think he has another gear, especially given how late he bloomed as a hitter. I think the potential is there for him to become a Top-10 outfielder and potentially return second round value this season.

David Murphy (OF, TEX) – I've been on the David Murphy bandwagon since way back in his days as a prospect in the Red Sox system. All he's done over the last five seasons is improve almost every year and post double-digit HRs and steals despite being platooned or having to rely on other player's injuries to get into the lineup. Fortunately for Murphy, he plays on a team that featured Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz and Craig Gentry – three of the most injury-prone players in the game. Still, it wasn't until 2012 that Murphy finally received more than 500 plate appearances, and even then it was only 512. He responded with a career-best offensive season, and he did it with an increased walk rate (10.6-percent), improved ISO to .175 and his best OBP (.380) ever with the Rangers. Now that Hamilton is gone, the Rangers will likely make Murphy their everyday left fielder, giving him his first legitimate shot at 600-plus PA. He'll have to do better at hitting left-handed pitching, especially since he's had so little experience against them over the last five seasons (585 PA, .266 BA). However, even if he does struggle against lefties, he'll more than make up for any shortcomings with his work against righties, against whom he has always hit well. At the very least, a 20/20 season is possible along with a batting average right around his career .285 mark. That certainly makes it likely that he outperforms his ridiculous ADP of #253.

Nolan Reimold (OF/DH, BAL) – Reimold has appeared on my sleeper list for the past three seasons after a promising 2009 in which he socked 15 HRs while putting up a .279/.365/.466 line in 411 PA. Unfortunately, he hasn't come close to that kind of production in any season since due to a lack of playing time or injury. Last season, he managed just 16 games before succumbing to neck pain, which resulted in the need for spinal fusion surgery (similar to what Peyton Manning had). Reimold boasts a pretty strong skill set featuring elite walk rates (9.7 BB%), solid power (.194 ISO) and very good strike zone skills. He enters 2013 as a platoon candidate in left field with Nate McLouth, nobody's idea of competition for Reimold. If he can pick up anywhere near where he left off last season, Reimold will force the Orioles to find extra at bats for him, perhaps in the DH slot currently filled by Wilson Betemit, nobody's idea of competition for anyone. If he can get hot, stay hot and stay healthy, Reimold is capable of double-digit HRs and solid counting stats along with a batting average of .275 or better given his skill set. His #345 ADP slot means he's largely going undrafted in mixed leagues of less than 14-16 teams, so he is someone you can grab at the end of your draft and stash away. What can possibly go wrong with taking a risk on a player who could end up being your Fantasy team's best option as a fourth or fifth outfielder or better?

Kendrys Morales (1B/DH, SEA) – I have to admit that including Morales on this list is more a function of hunch than anything else. In truth, his skill metrics regressed terribly across the board in 2012. He struck out more often, walked less often, chased pitches out of the zone at the highest rate of his career, and he swung and missed more often than ever before. Add to that his move to Safeco Field, one of the worst parks for hitters in all of baseball and you must be thinking that I am out of my mind. Perhaps I am, but Morales had a great second half last season. In fact, he looked a bit like the Morales who once raked his way to a .263 ISO in his best season – 2009. After a decent first half, in which he batted .289 with eight HRs and a mere .142 ISO, Morales turned it on in the second half, bashing 14 homers and notching a .248 ISO. He walked a bit more while keeping his strikeout rate flat, and the primary reason his batting average dropped to .256 was due to an unlucky BABIP of .281, well below his career .305 mark. Remember, Morales missed most of 2010 and all of 2011, so it would have been miraculous to see him return with all of his skills intact after such a long layoff. Now that he has another full year of strength building and skill practice behind him, Morales should be ready to take off and soar again in 2013. It's also worth noting that the fences have been moved in and lowered at Safeco, which should only help Morales in the HR department. I'm betting he easily outproduces his #132 ADP, with the potential to return to Top-40 player production.

Michael Cuddyer (OF, COL) – By most accounts, Cuddyer's injury-riddled first season in Colorado was a dud. Indeed, an oblique injury all but wiped out his second half, and he looked terrible in the 19 second half games he did play. However, Cuddyer had a pretty solid first half, batting .264 (still above league average) with 12 HRs, 50 RBI, 44 Runs and 8 SBs in 81 games. Project that over a full season and Cuddyer would have had one of his best ever. His .216 ISO over the first half would have been among his best seasons, and he did end up with a .229 ISO for the season despite his poor second half. He is entering the 2013 season at age 34, so we could be seeing the beginning of his decline phase. But if there is one ballpark where the aging curve can be offset by park factors, it's Colorado's Coors Field; so don't count Cuddyer out just yet. A fully healthy season could easily see him post 25 HRs, 100 RBI's 80 Runs scored and double-digit steals (though they are the least likely of the bunch), which will absolutely beat Cuddyer's #166 ADP by a very profitable margin.

Kompany: Manchester City will bounce back next season - GiveMeFootball.com

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany has vowed his team will put up a better show next season after failing to build on their success this term.

Roberto Mancini's troops secured their maiden Premier League title last year in a thrilling manner, firing two stoppage-time goals on the final day to wrestle the trophy away from neighbours Manchester United.

However, all the talk of the Citizens going on a title-winning spree and shifting the balance of power in Manchester to the blue side proved to be short-lived. City have struggled to compete with the Red Devils this term, currently trailing United by an enormous 15-point margin.

And although the Etihad Stadium outfit are set to square off with United next month – a fixture which proved to be the season decider in the previous season – it will prove to be nothing more than an inconsequential tie between the two heavyweights of England in the context of the title.

Nonetheless, Kompany has revealed that his side have learnt from their mistakes and are ready to have another crack next term.

The 26-year-old also said that their prime focus for now was to make sure they don't end up trophy-less by winning the FA Cup.

"You always want to go for the titles and you always want to go for the top," the Belgium international told Sky Sports. "We still have a good run in the FA Cup, but ultimately in football you have to have a winner and a loser, so I think we will learn from what happened there and we'll grow stronger again."

And the defender admitted he was left frustrated at being sidelined from the team, but vowed to make a strong comeback.

"Yes it's frustrating but it's something you have to deal with as a professional football player," he added. "I've been through a lot worse than this, so for me it was just a case of working really hard and making sure that I was able to be there for the team again.

"My only ambition was to make myself available again to the manager of the national team and the manager of Manchester City. I've worked really hard. I just want to perform really quickly and really well."

What do Newcastle United have to do to gain at Manchester City? - ChronicleLive

For Newcastle United fans, the journey back from trips to Anfield and Old Trafford along the M62  has became a predictable and tedious experience.

And while you would have to dust down the history books and go back to 1972 for the last win over Manchester United in front of the Stretford End, and to 1994 for Newcastle's last victory against Liverpool on Merseyside, the Magpies are yet to get off the mark at Manchester City's Eastlands home.

And whatever you want to call it, whether it be the City of Manchester Stadium or the Etihad  – the venue has not been kind to the Magpies since the Citizens moved from Maine Road.

It was at the Moss Side ground that Newcastle last experienced a win in Manchester, Alan Shearer scoring a late winner for Sir Bobby Robson's side in September 2000.

Injuries to star names like Michael Owen, Joey Barton and Hatem Ben Arfa have haunted United, and a winless run of eight visits to the stadium which was originally built for the Commonwealth Games in 2002 has made for a miserable time for Geordie fans at the venue.

Indeed, the last four visits have all ended in defeat, with Eastlands the ONLY venue  in the top flight where Newcastle have never experienced a victory.

Champions-elect  City inflicted United's first Premier League defeat of the season on another day when nothing fell for the Magpies at Eastlands. A penalty award just four minutes before the break when Yaya Toure fired the ball against the hand of Ryan Taylor allowed Mario Balotelli to open the scores before Micah Richards gave Newcastle a mountain to climb.

And by the time Dan Gosling had became the 100th player to score in the Premier League for Newcastle there were few positives to cling to for Geordie supporters.

Forget the defeat, the main thing Newcastle fans will remember this game for is Nigel De Jong's horror challenge on Hatem Ben Arfa.

The foul – just like Callum McManaman's on Massadio Haidara last week – went unpunished and there was  no retrospective action by the FA.

But on a day of no justice, Newcastle fan Adam Johnson rubbed salt into the wounds to score the winning goal for  City.

Joey Barton was soon joining him on the injury list in the game with a broken foot sustained in the same game, decimating his season until May.

Andy Carroll (pictured) pulled one back in the closing stages but in a further twist, Kinnear called Charles N'Zogbia by the name of "Charles Insomnia" to conclude an ill-fated night.

N'Zogbia slapped in a transfer request and by the end of the month Republic of Ireland international Given was also a City player too.

An Oba Martins goal put his side ahead but more pain was to follow as the goals flowed and Newcastle were put back in their place.

In an awful game, the contest only livened up a touch in the second period and in the final minute Nobby Solano looked to have won it when his 20-yard drive at goal was heading for the net – only for team-mate Antoine Sibierski to get in the way and deflect it wide on the return to his old club.

The straw that broke the camel's back, though, wasn't any of the three goals that left United on the ropes again at Eastlands.

Indeed, it was the sight of Lee Clark and Scott Parker running into each other for disorganised Newcastle that proved to be the moment that tipped then- chairman Freddy Shepherd over the edge.

A banner that read: "Souness out!" before the game summed it all up for the struggling Magpies and the next morning the Scot was sacked and replaced by Academy director Glenn Roeder.

The Premier League's all-time leading scorer netted his 250th goal in the competition with a fantastic long-distance strike after hammering home a pass from Titus Bramble.

He's getting experience, playing Champions League basketball for United against Real Madrid and working his way in to the England set-up. Racing ahead: Tom Cleverley is currently an important player for both Manchester United and England He began against Brazil at Wembley, selected to play in his favoured key midfield position along with Jack Wilshere and chief Steven Gerrard last month. Iave played in a few massive games like Galatasaray away and you canat get yourself a definitely better atmosphere than that. aIam getting experience of these activities away from home in places. Iave had a good work in the part and the director indicates plenty of faith in me. aThere are some great players who have been at the top for 10, 15 years, so the competition is clearly there. Team and country: Cleverley has featured in the beginning XI for some of United's most vital games this year Montenegro isA a big game and weA may prepare for it carefully. You just have to consider the table a'they have 13 points and we've 11. aIt could only be natural for big games similar to this that everybody wants to perform. Shock donat have in 2010 to still another qualifier, therefore it will soon be good to get rid of on a win.a

West Brom's Ben Foster could be the equivalent of Joe Hart, claims Liam Ridgewell - expressandstar.com

West Bromwich Albion defense Liam Ridgewell today said Hawthorns No.1 Ben Foster must certanly be classified alongside England competitor Joe Hart as you of the best goalkeepers on the planet. Foster will again be on hand as understudy to Hart tomorrow evening when the Three Lions simply take on Montenegro in a vital World Cup qualifier. But Ridgewell, who is currently a of Fosteras with West Brom and played facing both men at Birmingham, believes the couple are extremely closely matched. Hartas shows for England and Manchester City have seen the former Shrewsbury man identified together of the worldas top glovemen and Ridgewell insisted: aI donat see why Ben shouldnat take that class. aHe has been playing so well for a long period of time. aHe is easily an international goalkeeper and I think he'd enter many international groups in Europe. aItas amazing for England to have some one like that but itas sad for him that England have two goalies at a top-drawer level in Joe and him. aIt is remarkable for England since they have two such good goalkeepers who equally deserve to play in most game. aI donat see too many other international teams that have the conventional of goalies that England have got. aThe two of these are very similar. They're brilliant shot-stoppers, good at kicking, good at talking and, if you want them most, they make that important save. aI would hate to be Roy Hodgson, having to pick one of them.a Foster was on the counter for Fridayas 8-0 thrashing of San Marino and finished his self-imposed two-year global exile early in the day this month subsequent talks with Hodgson. And Ridgewell believes Fosteras form at The Hawthorns merited an immediate recall by former Albion chef and present England director Hodgson. aBen has been great for all of us recently,a said Ridgewell. aEven since he joined the team he has been that way. aItas his one-off saves which can be a good thing. There are shots that, with a lot of keepers, might go in but, when you think itas planning to go in, he preserves it. aIn a casino game he might make 2 or 3 saves and the difference can be made all by it. aHis kicking is just a major part of it too. Anyone can be picked by him out. To have that behind you is fantastic.a West Bromwich Albion opponent Liam Ridgewell today said Hawthorns No.1 Ben Foster ought to be classified alongside England rival Joe Hart as you of the best goalkeepers in the world. Heat set hitting the street driving 26-game win streak

Ohio (AP) a Dwyane Wade's only on-court contribution of the night time was grabbing a for LeBron James' postgame interview. Joe Bosh was twice regaled by "Happy Birthday" singing from supporters. Juwan Howard got his first minutes of the summer season. Saturday was about entertaining for the Miami Heat. A much larger check a' a four-game journey that could bring them to the cusp of catching the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers a' starts on Monday. James completed with 32 points on 11 for 14 shooting, 10 helps and eight boards, Bosh scored 15 points and heat won their 26th direct sport, topping the Charlotte Bobcats 109-77 on Sunday evening. The possibility for No. 27 comes Monday against Orlando, a staff that's taken the Heat to the control twice already this season. "It is definitely an opportunity merely to treat it as a business trip," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "That is what we discussed. This is a business trip. Let's take care of (Monday) evening. It's perhaps not concerning the story line. It is maybe not about something else." Norris Cole scored 15 points and Ray Allen included 14 for the Heat, who played without Wade, used from the selection as a result of right leg pain the team thinks is minimal. And after another gradual start, Miami has become eight victories afraid of coordinating those Lakers of Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Gail Goodrich a' and a reserve named Pat Riley a for the NBA record. After facing the Magic, Miami may visit Chicago, New Orleans and San Antonio. "We need to continue to play well on the road," said Bosh, who turned 29 Sunday. "We involve some huge issues ahead of us. Plenty of areas where you can't just come in and mosey in and think you are planning to win the game." That said, the Warmth have inked their share of moseying currently, Sunday being just one more case. For the fourth straight game, Miami got into a double-digit deficit. Charlotte was within five in the third quarter and led by 11 in the early going, but two huge bursts by the Heat were ample to put the overall game away. Miami used a 31-6 work in the first half to remove the deficit, and the job was finished by a 26-5 blitz the second half. Kemba Walker led Charlotte with 20 items, and Gerald Henderson had 18. Charlotte finished the night time 5 for 25 from 3-point range, whilst the Heat was 13 for 30 beyond the arc. "We went in to some dry spells and we settled for so many 3's," Bobcats instructor Mike Dunlap said. "At the finish of the game we had 25 and that's not who we are." In accordance with STATS, Miami became the team in the last decade to walk a casino game by double numbers and get by at least 32 points. James departed with about 8 minutes left, after probably the highlight of the night. Frank Andersen blocked a layup take to by Walker, doing so with such force that the ball caromed straight back into play and basically started a Miami fast break on its own. The sequence was capped by james with a spectacular dunk, his final points of the night time. A number of the world's best athletes, all seated courtside, did not restrain their acceptance. Tennis star Novak Djokovic clapped and smiled. Golf's Rory McIlroy a' who may drop his No. 1 rating if Tiger Woods keeps on and wins from Increasing Hill on Monday a' made toward Heat manager Micky Arison and grinned. World heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko's facial expression was one of disbelief. "I think it is very humbling that you might have a number of the greats from different activities arrive at see your team play, come to see you play," James said. "You attempt to leave an impression on them, as a team and as an individual, definitely. So that it was great to own them in the making, for sure." The Bobcats and Heat played three times all through 2012, and Charlotte never led for a single 2nd in virtually any of the competitions. The Bobcats did lead by five once the teams played in Miami earlier this Feb. 4, but had not placed a double-digit lead over the Heat since December 2011. That is, until Sunday. The same as Boston, Cleveland and Detroit did before them previously week, the Bobcats could actually have the early join Miami. Charlotte struck nine of its first 14 images, got a quick 19-8 guide and had Spoelstra calling a quick timeout. "That is type of been their M.O. lately, they have gotten down to slow starts," Henderson said. "We wanted to come out and join them just like the other groups have. They got in into the game and we also when on a long drought where we could not score the ball.", once they got settled in, beginning making plays Whatever Spoelstra said in that huddle seemed to be effective. Arkansas closed the first quarter on a 15-0 run, taking the lead straight back on a alley-oop from Cole to James, who pointed to the side and then found a way to capture the long move from the second-year guard. By the time the Heat's burst was around, an 11-point shortage turned into a 39-25 guide a' making it a 31-6 move for Miami, which pushed the Bobcats into missing 20 of 22 shots throughout that stretch. The outcome was never really in doubt again. "We have already been having gradual starts," James said. "But it is maybe not how we start. It is how exactly we finish." Stoke City: Potters left waiting over fitness of international stars - This is Staffordshire

STOKE City's hierarchy admit there will be a question mark over the condition of half-a-dozen potential starters at Everton on Saturday because of international commitments tonight.

Glenn Whelan and Jon Walters have concerns over their ankle and back respectively, despite being named alongside Marc Wilson as starters in Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Austria in Dublin.

Geoff Cameron and Brek Shea are in America for their qualifier against Mexico, Charlie Adam is in Serbia with Scotland and Kenwyne Jones has to travel home from Peru following a friendly there for Trinidad & Tobago.

"It's a case of keeping your fingers crossed that they don't get injured, then hope the travelling doesn't leave them too tired," said assistant manager Dave Kemp, pictured below.

You've found the best place online to buy kitchens and replacement doors. Fully customisable, made in the UK and delivered direct to your door - what could be easier!

Whelan is down to start for Ireland against Austria after recent ankle trouble, while Walters is also named despite requiring treatment for back problems.

Kemp continued: "It's good news if Glenn is now fit to play, but until our medical people look at him we don't know the true state of his fitness.

"The games won't do Marc Wilson any harm because he's been out injured for so long until recently, but we are concerned about Glenn and Jon Walters.

"They've both gone a long period without a break when you think of last season, playing for Ireland in the Euros last summer and then playing every international break.

The 20 year-old – who measures in at around six foot, four inches – justified recent attention in his services by grabbing a goal in Denmark's World Cup qualifying victory in the Czech Republic last Friday.

Asmir Begovic is back at Stoke, meanwhile, after helping Bosnia to a home win over qualifying rivals Greece four days ago.

And he reaffirmed his commitment to Stoke amid interest from the likes of Manchester United by stating: "I'm pleased that the big clubs are interested in me, but I'm happy at Stoke because they gave me a chance to play in the Premier League.

Striker battle hots up - Clubcall

Tottenham Hotspur, Last updated: 10:28, March 26, 2013[[views]] Premiership, Tottenham Hotspur https://plus.google.com/115899669055204909525 The race has been joined by spurs to sign Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo who looks set to keep Spain in the summer. Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is stated to be very eager as he has worries up front, with Emmanuel Adebayor's potential uncertain following a generally indifferent season since signing on a foundation from Manchester City, leaving just Jermain Defoe as the single frontman.Spanish international Negredo has packaged 20 times in 30 appearances for Sevilla this season but they experience economic worries and may be required to provide in the summer.Villas-Boas faces a significant battle for the striker as there are lots of other interested parties, led by Everton boss David Moyes who apparently also has Negredo at the top of his list.Moyes almost landed the striker in January but the deal just failed to materialise so he is set to go again in the summer, though uncertainty over their own place at Everton may be an edge to Spurs. < Previous article Next article >

Manchester United planning £60m clear out with Antonio Valencia heading list - Express.co.uk

There has already been mounting speculation about the likes of Anderson and Javier Hernandez who are tipped with moves abroad.

Sir Alex Ferguson has already identified areas he would like to strengthen in and feels that he needs to shift players that are deemed surplus to requirements.

And though Ferguson has made some dubious signings in the past, it is believed the £60m he will generate from the sales will help fund better acquisitions.

Football website Goal.com reveals that Ferguson's desire to land Robin Van Persie and his £17m purchase of Wilfried Zaha has brought home to the roost the unsustainable nature of splashing big money on players when the club faces huge debts.

A source close to United told Goal: "Sir Alex and the club made it abundantly clear they would go that extra yard for Robin. United knew the numbers involved but saw it as a real signal of intent going forward.

"A couple of other targets had to slide as a result, certainly Lucas Moura, when Paris Saint-Germain made their interest known in the boy.

"Those figures were just crazy. Wilfried Zaha is a sound investment due to the relatively low money involved. Sir Alex knows he will have to be even cuter this summer as a result of Robin now being on our wage bill."

Man City have Moyes, Pellegrini as part of Mancini backup plan - Tribalfootball.com

The Sunday Mirror says with their bid to retain the Premier League title looking increasingly doomed, City's most realistic hope of silverware this season is the FA Cup, where they face Manchester United or Chelsea in the semi-finals.

Everton's David Moyes and Malaga's Manuel Pellegrini are admired within City, while Johan Cruyff, an ally of chief executive Ferran Soriano, will recommend Ajax manager Frank de Boer, who masterminded a shock 3-1 Champions League win over City in Holland this season and held Mancini's men to a 2-2 draw at Eastlands.

Montenegro v England: Mystery of Manchester City exclusion continues as ... - The Independent

When Joleon Lescott is asked to weigh up his chances of being in the England squad, should they qualify for the World Cup finals next summer, he pauses for a moment and then hedges his bets. "Sitting here now, if you'd asked me that last year then I'd have said: 'Yeah, pretty good'. But you don't know. If I can play more regularly at club level then I think I'll be there."

Answering questions in a beach front cafe in the town of Riccione, where England have been based before and after Friday's World Cup qualifier against San Marino, is not really where Lescott expected to be this weekend. He planned to be in Paris with his wife Debbie, taking advantage of an international week when, he thought, his country did not need him.

As it stands, Lescott will be in the side tomorrow night when England face Montenegro in Podgorica in their crucial World Cup qualifier. Eleven days ago he was not even in Roy Hodgson's 26-man squad for the two qualifiers having, in the words of the manager, played "too little football" for Manchester City. Come the end of Friday's game in Serravalle he was wearing the captain's armband for the second time in his international career.

But then Lescott, 30, knows only too well how quickly things can change. Last summer at Euro 2012 he and John Terry started every game together at the heart of Hodgson's defence. Lescott had just won his first Premier League winners' medal with City, starting 40 games in all competitions. If he was fit, he played. Now he is pretty much out in the cold.

It has not yet been satisfactorily  explained why Roberto Mancini has taken against Lescott to such an  extent. The teenage Serb Matija Nastasic has been impressive, but even in Vincent Kompany's absences the City manager has largely turned to Kolo Touré and Javi Garcia rather than Lescott. Sadly, the new agreement between the Football Association and the clubs that players do not discuss club matters on international duty meant Lescott was unable to offer his view on the situation.

"Towards the end of the season, I'll address that," he said. "But for now, I'm fully focused on England and what England need to do."

He will almost certainly partner Chris Smalling tomorrow night, having played alongside the United man on Friday. Smalling is the only central defender still available to Hodgson from the four he picked in his original squad following the withdrawals of Michael Dawson, Rio Ferdinand and Gary Cahill.

Smalling played under Hodgson at Fulham and is something of a favourite of the England manager but has actually made two fewer starts for United, 15, than Lescott has for City this season. Like Lescott, he too appears to be fourth choice centre-back at his club. But it was Lescott who was initially left out and then called up when Dawson withdrew.

"Of course it is a concern that I haven't been playing as much I would like, but I have confidence in my own ability," Lescott said. "Touch wood I haven't been injured – because I haven't been playing – so I feel sharp enough to adapt to anything. I am not saying that I am a guaranteed start but I feel sharp and feel fit.

"I don't think everyone in the squad has played every game since the last squad. If you think about it like that no one can be at their ultimate peak but I feel confident in my ability. Obviously I was not playing as regularly as the other players. Michael and Rio were playing regularly and playing well so I fully understand the reasons for not being in there.

"I don't think the manager owes me anything special to anyone else ... he said Chris had played in the last game against Brazil and did well. I understood his decision and respected them. Chris has played more for England. That's the way I look at it. But I'm here now and I'm going to take the opportunity with both hands."

Lescott says that he still loves getting up for training in the morning and is at the training ground even on days off because he likes to keep ticking over. His fracture with Mancini seemed to come after the manager criticised his defender following the Champions League defeat to Ajax in Amsterdam on 24 October. After that Lescott did not start another game until the visit of his former club Everton at the start of December.

His contract is up in the summer of next year and already there have been suggestions that a player signed for £24m could be allowed to go for a fraction of that fee this summer. If his City career is coming to an end, at least as long as Mancini stays at the club, then there is still plenty at stake for England. He is still young for a central defender.

"The Euros were great and if I never played for England again that will have gone down as the ultimate goal to have played in," he said. "But to play in the World Cup is everyone's dream. No disrespect to the Euros but you don't grow up dreaming of the Euros, you dream of the World Cup. That's the same for everyone and I'm no different."

Of course, there are many players on the borders of Hodgson's squad who are thinking the same and in central defence Hodgson has a lot of players to choose from. If Lescott performs tomorrow night then one expects, especially given Ferdinand's withdrawal, that Hodgson will feel a certain loyalty towards him. Certainly more than he has enjoyed with Mancini at City.

Arizona Pitcher Daniel Hudson Is Not Happy With The Picture Topps Chose For His Baseball Card

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Daniel Hudson, who broke onto the scene in 2011 with a 16-12 record and a 3.49 ERA, missed most of last year after undergoing Tommy John surgery on July 9. Only a couple weeks earlier on June 26th, he exited his start in the second inning with an elbow injury. Though the discomfort had been lingering for weeks, he attributed it to after-start soreness and tried (unsuccessfully) to work through the pain. But an MRI and two doctors' opinions later, he had a torn ulnar collateral ligament and needed the dreaded Tommy John surgery.

It's safe to say that June 26th is a day Daniel Hudson would like to forget – the despair, the anger, the pain, all of it. Luckily some negligent schlub over at Topps was perusing Getty Images for a Hudson photo to slap on his Topps Heritage baseball card (their retro-style card), when he stumbled across this one:

Hold on a minute: let's check this. Was this really that moment, right as Hudson left the game in the second inning and his next year and a half went up in flames? Uh, yeah. Per the photo description on Getty:

"ATLANTA, GA – JUNE 26: Daniel Hudson #41 of the Arizona Diamondbacks reacts with Aaron Hill #2 prior to being pulled in the second inning against the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field on June 26, 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia."

Discuss Whitlam CU-1 Putter Evaluation by Buckjob

I truly have confidence in my heart that putters are the most individual membership in the bag. It is only natural that industry may form and transform to allow for it, when some thing is so personal. There is no better exemplory instance of that compared to the custom/boutique putter market. It can be found anywhere, if it can be dreamt by a golfer up. One organization who gives such dreams alive is Whitlam Golf, and one such case may be the new Whitlam CU-1 putter. Concerning the Company From the Website: aWhitlam Golf Putters certainly are a blend of todayas technology and yesterdayas designs. Whitlam putters would be the most exact milled putters in the golf industry. Our putters are CNC milled and adapt to the USGAas strict instructions governing the manufacture of golf clubs. In addition, we are pleased that all Whitlam putters are made solely in the USA.a WHITLAM CU-1 PUTTER: Select each photograph for greater image Appears Entering this review I tried to consider one word to explain the looks of the Whitlam CU-1 club and to be honest, it really can not be done. The initial thing that strikes you with the CU-1 putter is without a doubt the finish and the color. In fact, when I first opened the box, I thought it absolutely was amazing. I actually thought that it was a copper plated finish. Wrong. The CU-1 is literally milled from the solid billet of copper. For a copper putter that hasn't been seen by those at hand, it is definitely among the best looking materials available. Not only does it look great, the material is also a throw-back to times of the past when it was commonly used by many companies in the industry.A Copper is really a classic material that provides a clean and eye catching look, but it still needs to be emphasized with a solid head design, and the CU-1 is simply that. The model of the CU-1 is just a modern and simple mid-mallet design that might be a really common search even when it werenat manufactured from copper. The club features a roundness to it that suits the attention perfectly with step-down curved outer farming to accentuate the individual site-line layout of the middle of the flange. Despite having the delicate roundness, a slightly fuller topline and squared off back-end really asquaresa the putter to the ball at address. Also, when looking at the one can recognize somewhat of aA atri-planea stage to it, which makes the club super easy to properly sole at address and reduce beingA atoe-upa at address. From an engraving standpoint, the CU-1 keeps it clear enough that it doesnat detract from the others of the club in my opinion. I know that the engraving Aon the sole may actually be viewed abusya to some, however for me what matters most are at address, and with only a simple and clear cavity emblem, the CU-1 remains all company from there. I should also note that even though paint could obviously be changed, Whitlam has done an excellent work of selecting colors that highlight the copper instead of detracting from it. Feedback Copper is an very unique substance in the golf industry today, but that was not necessarily the case. Once upon a period it absolutely was popular not just in putters, but in addition irons and wedges. It is because of this history that the material had produced what could be considered a bit of a aculta subsequent. The thought for such a following can actually be traced back to the perception by many that it gives a asofter feela than the use of Metal or Carbon Steel in a club head. An average of, all feedback in a putter is considered to be the afeela of the putter. As usually nevertheless, I follow the lines of feel being associated with sound way more than whatever else. In copper, the afeela is generally considered smoother than another metals, though more firm than a place club. They key to copper could be the noise it puts down, and the Whitlam CU-1 is a excellent example of that very thing. The tone and feedback that comes off of the CU-1 is what I'd reference as a greater and richer sound than that of carbon or metal. That deeper tone gives a less aclickya sound away from the experience and contributes to the understanding of a softer sense for the user. The particular noise you get out of this club is very distinctive to copper putters. It can be a bit difficult to grasp If you have never combined one then. Performance I put the Whitlam CU-1 through its paces, not only in multiple rounds on the class, but in addition substantially on my putting green. I really enjoyed my time with it. The CU-1 in the double fold heel shafted type is just a nearly experience balanced mid-mallet that's extremely well balanced through the swing. The general stability combined with the 3.5A of loft on the face provided for a rapid forward and very constant move on every adding area that I tried it on. Sometimes in the putter world one can come upon a style that is visually satisfying yet functionally problematic that can suffer from rotating through the ball or a feeling of having to operate the stroke. It was definitely not the case with the Whitlam Cu-1. Actually, I found myself able to only let my putting stroke to flow without any concerns whatsoever. Total Most people can quickly consider the CU-1 with a review of shock on the sweetness of the copper content it is created from. But, it will not be lost that the CU-1 is a truly well-planned head design that Whitlam has taken to fruition. It does not only look great, but additionally functions well. The utilization of copper is a lot rarer than it once was, as previously mentioned before, and as a result, it should not come as a shock that it has an increased cost than different Whitlam styles. The CU-1 will come in right at $500 for several different versions of the club. Definitely a surprise to some, but considering the materials and quality involved, very good for the putter industry that Whitlam handles. Kansas races past South Carolina 75-69

After all, they realize they were likely the last at-large team to make the women's NCAA tournament after losing seven of their last 11 games.

The Jayhawks (20-13) were the ones chanting "Sweet 16!" for the second straight season Monday night after senior Monica Engelman scored a career-high 27 points in a 75-69 upset of fourth-seeded South Carolina.

Kansas became just the second No. 12 seed to advance to the second weekend of the NCAA tournament, joining San Francisco in 1996 as the only No. 12 seeds to follow up a win in the opening round with another in the second. No. 12 seeds are 2-15 in the second round since the women's field was expanded to 64 teams in 1994.

The Jayhawks moved on to Norfolk, Va., where they will play the winner of Tuesday's game between Notre Dame and Iowa in the regional semifinals Sunday.

"For me, Angel made it easy," Engelman said of teammate Angel Goodrich. "I mean, she's a great point guard, she can push the ball so she makes everyone else want to sprint up the floor and get easy buckets in transition."

"That's what we wanted to do, we want to control the tempo," Goodrich said. "When we run we have fun. We wanted to catch them off balance, catch them when they're not ready, because when they set up, they're really good."

Fourth-seeded South Carolina (25-8) was denied its 26th win, which would have been the program's most since joining the Southeastern Conference in 1991-92.

"It was a hard-fought, physical game," South Carolina forward Aleighsa Welch said. "It was really an up and down tempo."

"I told our team at the half, 'We give up 32 points in entire games,'" South Carolina coach Dawn Staley said. "The pace of the game was not our pace. They made us play a little quicker. I thought we were pretty efficient on the floor offensively, but in order for us to stay in basketball games, we have to control games from a defensive standpoint, and we didn't do that."

Staley said having Sancheon White, her best defender, play just 8 minutes in the first half because of foul trouble was a big part of Engelman's big night.

"It was her defensive assignment. We could have used her speed, but when you're playing two freshmen (Khadijah Sessions and Tiffany Mitchell) in a big game like this, it's pretty difficult to ask them to do things they haven't done," Staley said.

The first meeting between the two schools was an instant classic, a one-possession game in the final 30 seconds even though South Carolina didn't score again after Ashley Bruner's bucket with 2:52 left tied it at 69.

The Gamecocks grabbed 26 offensive boards, a school record for an NCAA game, and they had three players post double-doubles.

Bruner and Welch scored 16 points each and pulled down 12 and 11 rebounds, respectively. Elem Ibiam also had a double-double for South Carolina with 12 points and 10 boards.

Yet it's Kansas, which has won four straight games at the Coors Events Center, that's returning to the round of 16 after getting there last year as an 11th seed.

Kansas got a major scare when center Carolyn Davis limped off the court, favoring her left leg, after picking up her fourth foul with 6:40 left. A trainer took off the brace that protects the knee she injured last year, forcing her to miss the NCAA tournament. Welch sank both free throws to tie it at 65.

"It's always a scare to see someone go down and when I looked at her, she kind of just held her knee and I was just kind of like, 'Dang!' I didn't know what to think, really," Goodrich said. "But for her to get up and stand up, it relieved me a little bit.

"When that happens, you've got to stay composed and think we've still got time on the clock, we've still got a game to finish. But I'm glad she got back up and she got back in the game and she did what she needed to do."

It was 67-all when Davis returned with 3:50 remaining. She quickly denied Bruner's jumper, and her bucket with 2:30 left put Kansas ahead for good at 71-69.

Iseasia Walker missed a 3-pointer for South Carolina that would have tied at 72 it with less than a half-minute remaining and Kansas sealed the win at the free throw line.
