Been a wretched month as far as my own soccer picks have gone, just never got anything going! But March is here and the slate is wiped clean and with all the updating and additions to the blog all now done, I can get back to concentrating on the soccer for the next month. As you may have seen, there is a little competition for next month where the person who gets the MOST soccer wins, NOT winning %, for March, will win an exclusive Ralphsworld t-shirt (see post below for deatils and image of the shirt). ONLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE REGISTERED TO USE THE MESSAGE BOARD ARE ELIGBLE...so if you wanna join the fun and haven't already done so, register for chat today (I HAVE OPENED REGISTRATION UP SO ANYONE CAN JOIN AND SIGN UP THEMSELVES, BUT WILL CLOSE IT LATER TODAY, SO BE QUICK).
Turkish Cup football? who knows what the outcome will be and just how seriously these teams take the cup. Purely on league form, Bursaspor has the edge but they are out of contention for progression as only the top two teams in each of the two groups in the cup will advance to the semi-finals. Sivasspor (8pts) sit in 2nd place and cannot be caught, even if Bursaspor (4pts) beat them today and so the home side, with important league games to come, will play a second string team. Sivasspor may also play a weakened team as they are already qualified so that does make this a very tricky prop to call. To be honest, this could be played almost like a training session, with nothing on the line and could be a very dull game. These two will face each other again at the weekend in a league game and both will likely rest most of their stars today with that game in mind, where league points are up for grabs and Bursaspor's league position and qualification for Europe next year is their priority. I'll go with the team that has the draw option here as I doubt if this will be contested with much intensity, given the group situation. Sivasspor to win or draw in a very low scoring, dour game.
