Affectionately known by Baggies fans as Big Dave he made over 100 appearances for the club and became a cult hit on the terraces at The Hawthorns.
He was twice at the heart of the Baggies defence for promotion winning seasons to the Premier Leaguein 2001-02 and 2003-04.
He later returned to the club as a youth coach but recently signed up as assistant to his former Baggies team mate Michael Appleton at Blackburn Rovers.
