Gill: Just a small minority of Manchester United supporters oppose Glazers - Yahoo! Sports

Birmingham United chief executive David Gill insists just a small minority of the club's supporters oppose the Glazer family. Over the years various protests have been staged by many United fans against the Glazers, the most remarkable being the green-and-gold scarves worn by some in honor of the clubas original colors. But with five league games and a Champions League trophy showing because of their time at the club, Gill thinks the much-maligned Americans are just starting to conquer the lovers. "It may be the quality of the proprietors [that reporters were told by matters]," Gill. "And I believe [the Glazers] have positively demonstrated that since they have bought out, they've shown that what are the results on the pitch is essential to the club's dreams down it." Many of the past protests were down to the clubs enormous debt, which stems from the loans so that you can fund their takeover the Glazers got out. But United has already begun to settle its debts, and still found the funds to sign Robin van Persie for 25 million pounds last summer - a which has proved critical in the club's 20th title success. Gill understands its not all fan has been convinced by the Glazers, despite the teamas achievement, but he remains convinced such supporters are in the group. "There are still a small amount of dissenters and they will always be there and they have had long held opinions which they're not likely to change. We respect those," he added. "Ultimately, some body has to own the team. "But that being said, there will be described as a very small minority, MUST (the Manchester United Supporters' Trust), who will always maintain their particular views."
