Over the last a long period, the famous Red Sox and Yankees competition has been considered dead, or at minimum, decreased. But wherever the rivalry stands currently it remainsa'and has always beena'one of the best, longest-standing rivalries in activities. Then when I noticed that the Yankees would be playing Sweet CarolineAfollowing the 3rd inning of these game Tuesday as a to Bostona'their most hated, deeply-seated rivala'I was moved. Of all of the stories which have come out of the Boston Marathon disaster, I was particularly touched to see this type of sympathetic action, however small, come from "the enemy." Undoubtedly, along side many Red Sox fans, I have usually thrown that phrase around at the Yankees for a long time. But suddenly, it seems so horribly wrong. The Yankees and ny are not the enemy. Such immense pain was inflicted by whoever on the town of Boston, the victims and their families of the Boston Marathon, may be the enemy. It is now, if there was ever a period to place aside the rivalry, whether it is strong or weak. What transpired yesterday is really much bigger than football. The fact is, it wasn't only Boston that was attacked. America was attacked and it is a loss that no city knows better than Ny. A motion as a song as simple is everything coming from them. Consider buying in your little brother. You could do it constantly. But the moment a school bully begins to pick on your own little brother, that bully features a new issue and its name is You. No one picks on your little brother nevertheless you. Certain, New York and Boston have their differences. But Nyc and Boston, the Red Sox and Yankees, continue to be brothers. They result from exactly the same genetic material that makes up the United States of America. It is in times like these that individuals begin to see the problem. As hard as it may be for diehard supporters to acknowledge it, it's an indication that some things, like justice and liberty and life, really tend to be more essential than sports. As a separate Yankees hater, I am so thankful and appreciative of the support that the Yankees and the city of Ny are, in the phrases of Neil Diamond, "reachin' out" to Boston with the playing ofASweet Caroline. Like Ny in 2001, Boston will stay strong through these trying times. Until you will be the New York Yankees, for no one picks on Boston.
