Team News Winger Matthew Etherington is Stoke manager Tony Pulis' only doubt ahead of Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash with Aston Villa at the Britannia Stadium. Etherington sat out last week's 1-0 defeat at Everton with a groin and back complaint for which he is currently receiving treatment. Pulis, eager not to rush Etherington back into action too soon, will make a decision on the player on Friday.
Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clark remains a major fitness doubt. Clark suffered a shoulder injury while on international duty for the Republic of Ireland and was ruled out of last weekend's home setback against Liverpool. Midfielder Brett Holman (hamstring) is available but defender Chris Herd and winger Marc Albrighton (both foot) plus defender Richard Dunne (groin) remain on the casualty list.
Match Notes Rarely have Aston Villa approached a game this season as the team in better form. The chance of an away victory is very plausible here, with Stoke City in a state of paralysis having won just once in the league since the turn of the year. Villa desperately need it having fallen back into the drop zone last weekend. Stoke have their own relegation concerns but Tony Pulis claims another six points will secure safety.
